Hubby has been studying paramedic sciences for the last 2 years (ambulance service funded). He's got 2 weeks left and I honestly can not wait to see the back of it all.

It's been a bit of a tough time over the years. We've had problems withs SS, and my sister passed away while one of my parents was in hospital receiving a transplant.

Hubby has been the best support he can but he's often checked out of things like house work etc which he's normally very helpful with.

So I'm managing the housework, our 2 year old (when I'm not at work) and also working myself. We both work 12 hour shifts so I'm absolutely shattered (nights for me)

Other than our wedding we haven't even had a date night in the last 18 months and as we had 70 people there, I wouldn't call it a date night lol.

Don't get me wrong I don't begrudge Hubby for wanting to Progress his career and I'm very proud of him. But fuck me, I can't wait to get my hubby back and be able to spend time with him again.

That’s not unreasonable at all, good for hubby for trying to expand his opportunities and good for you for supporting him. I would make sure that you have a conversation after it’s finished and explain how you feel, that you want to feel like a priority to him again now that he has more time and reignite the relationship a bit. Set the expectations and put some plans onto place to get the ball rolling

I already have. I just hope it happens. Over the last 2 years it feels as though life has just got in the way. Keeping my fingers crossed and we will see what happens.

It's possible to feel glad it's over, proud of him, and pleased you get your husband back, so you are not being unreasonable. I'd not tell him you're glad it's over in those words, but definitely suggest spending more time together.

I can't imagine why you would be unreasonable to feel that way.

Don't feel bad for being happy that his degree is nearly over. It puts a huge pressure on couples/families when one partner undertakes a degree. You know it's worthwhile doing and the time studying won't last forever but it seems like it does and in effect, you are almost like a single parent having to keep things running on your own. I'm speaking as a mature student who did a four year degree - three of them away from home and I'm sure it was tough on my husband even though our children are all adults now. Prioritise time with him when it finishes but bear in mind that he will probably feel exhausted (as I'm sure you do) when he finishes. It's going to take time for things to 'get back to normal'. You might also, if you can, prioritise some time for yourself as you will have had very little time over the last two years to just take time out and chill.

Why would it be unreasonable?
