Driving along in the car with my teenage kids. The song 'guess' by Charlie xcx comes on the radio. It seems to be about going down on a girl.
My youngest made a comment about people spitting on a women when eating her out. Quite apart from being horrified to hear this words come out of the mouth of my youngest, I was given the major ick by thinking about someone spitting on someone during oral sex!!
Is this a thing?? I'm quite sure no-one has ever done this to me and that it would disgust me if they did. I'm not really sure why! Can't get my head round why it would be necessary - surely if they're doing it right then, er, juices would be flowing and there'd be no need for more lubrication??
Am I being weird? Is this normal? I consider myself quite well experienced and worldly, but this has me confused!!

"Young" people (under 35) do the saliva thing. Being old myself (46) I think it's disgusting.

Each to their own, obviously, but this isn’t an age-specific thing. I’m older than you, and it’s really not a new development in the world of shagging.

AnnaL94 · 29/05/2025 00:02

Your kid shouldn’t know what “going down on someone” means…

But yeah I’ve spat on knobs before giving head.

I forgot teenagers are perfect virginal angels with no interest in sex or knowing anything about it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 29/05/2025 01:33

For all of those who claim to be oblivious.....

Using saliva as a lube is perfectly normal. A woman "lubing up" her own bits and pieces by choice, or her chosen partner doing that with her consent is ok. Whats not ok is spitting.

Spitting on a womans vulva/anus before a sex act is common in porn. Its meant to be degrading and yet the woman involved will act like she loves it. The message is "treat them like shit and they will take it and ask for more". Thats why more and more young women are shunning young men. And why there are so many InCels because they cant understand why real life young women dont act like the actors in porn vids.

ITs disgusting and, as I said, degrading. The whole point is that the woman is treated badly but acts like she loves it. Spat on, pissed on, raped, whatever, she loves it.

And now there are songs that our young kids are hearing and singing along to, that normalises it.

Moier · 29/05/2025 01:34

Flaming Nora I'm 66 and yes spiting on the clitoris is a " thing".. it can be very sexual depending on your preferred sexual life/ experiences.

You are comparing rape to being spit on ..in the act of oral sex and foreplay on the women's sexual organs?
Educate yourself...
Each to their own.. it can be erotic.

This is a crazy comparison. No one spits to degrade the person. It’s literally just extra lube.

comparing it to rape is offensive to actual rape survivors like me.

Using saliva is one thing, but I had one bloke who knelt over me and spat from a height. I was clear he was not to repeat this, however good his aim.

Can’t believe I’m commenting on this thread, but er, why is this a problem? I assume it was during sex if it was from a height as opposed to oral sex? It’s just extra lubrication and it’s going somewhere where his saliva has hopefully already been during foreplay!

Dont be ridiculous.

I was quite clearly referring to pornography. Your choices and preferences are yours, although having experienced it I personally dont think that it is erotic at all (52yrs old if that is at all relevant, you seem to care about age).

As your comprehension skills are obviously lacking, I will explain.

Porn videos available online, where women are.....spat on, pissed on, raped etc and are acting like they love it....are something that so many people see now. For your average teen lad thats all they know about sex. They see this and think that that is what sex is. When they get their first sexual experience, they do what they have seen on a screen, thinking its the right thing to do.

The young women involved are left, at best, upset and at worst, traumatised.

If you read my post further on I did say I misread “teenagers” and just read kids. Assumed they were kids-kids as in primary aged.

Helpmechooseausername · 28/05/2025 23:47

I know it's bizarre, but I thought if I can't ask on here then where can I ask?!

I understand about saliva - I was asking specifically about spitting, seems a bit gross to me, but maybe I'm turning into a prude in my old age!

And I definitely know what the ick means. The thought of being spat on gives it to me!!

That’s not what “getting the ick" means, which is a sudden, often unexplained, feeling of disgust or repulsion towards someone you were previously attracted to. It's a gut-wrenching reaction that can completely alter your perception of someone, making them seem off-putting.

What you mean is that you find something icky, which is completely different.

Zanatdy · 29/05/2025 05:56

It’s fairly common in the world of porn, which is sadly where many of our sons are learning about sex.

LoafofSellotape · 29/05/2025 00:03

A teenager shouldn't know about oral sex?

Agree. Some of these replies are very naive. I’d argue teenagers should have an idea about oral sex if it helps dispel myths about how they can get pregnant etc.

They’re also naive about the fact that apparently spitting - yes, spitting and even with a little force and not just using a bit of saliva as lubrication - can be a thing. I was shocked to learn this about this a while back, during a conversation with a group of friends. Several had been spat on during oral sex in the way described above.

Yes. I’ve also seen a meme about it recently so I assumed it must be more common than I knew.

I agree with this. It is about degrading women.

I’ve had a healthy sex life with a variety of partners and never been spat on. Thankfully.

Don’t be sorry this is a chat forum !
yeah it doesn’t do much for me the thought of it either
also nothing wrong with talking to your teenagers about anything sexual , I’d rather mine come to me and ask than worry about not knowing something

It probably should be in the sex forum though.

You're absolutely right. But unfortunately you'll get a lot of flak for this. Porn consumers get very defensive when you point out the problems with the industry. If anyone is interested in learning about the harms of porn I recommend www.fightthenewdrug.org and I encourage all parents especially to arm themselves with the information and resources they need to protect and EDUCATE their kids on the reality of it before it damages them and their natural sexual development.

Gail Dines is very informed on this, she has some talks on YouTube I believe.

I'm no puritan, I'm an atheist and I think sex is one of the best parts of being a human. Porn has stolen and capitalised on our sexuality and set women back decades.. nothing sex-positive there.
