Tell me your thoughts, after all our bills, loans, outgoings, groceries are paid
My partner and I and our 2 kids have a total of €300 free cash a week?
Am I being ridiculous to think we can survive on this?

What do you envisage spending it on? Seems fine to me.

Drinkteawedding · 27/05/2025 17:11

Are you and partner saving anything at all?
own or rent?

Backtobackchat · 27/05/2025 17:12

It will be used for clothes and going out for family days etc..
Im just nervous as I've reduced my hours to part time as I want more time with the babies
I don't want to regret this decision

Own with no savings as just had a massive renovation, starting from scratch. I know not a good time for me to go part time

Completely depends on what 'all outgoings' includes. Does it include clothes, hobbies/activities, entertainment, transport, school supplies etc? 'Outgoings' is a very broad category.

TheNightingalesStarling · 27/05/2025 17:14

What would you normally spend on clothes, days out etc?

Not transport, just literally days out and clothes i suppose. Kids are still babies so no school funds needed yet

So €300 per week comes to €1200 per month after all bills paid, including food.
That seems plenty to me.

I'd literally use every penny. Im the kind of person if I have it i spend it. I will have to budget

Thanks, just panicking over going part time
I need to be here for the babies its a happier home. I suppose that in itself clarifies my decision

Well in that case I personally wouldn’t regard that as free money

I’d be replenishing my savings as a matter of priority

Bitchesbelike · 27/05/2025 17:19

we manage on £200 a week after all bills/ groceries etc

Bitchesbelike · 27/05/2025 17:20

Your babies won’t be babies long. I’d go part time, and cut it down to £150 a week spends (and save the other £50)

Yes, I agree! Need to set up some sort of weekly savings. We have 5k back up incase of an emergency but afraid it may be dipped into with renovations, hopefully not
