Breast reduction?? Good idea or not?

Itsallaboutme2021 · 25/05/2025 09:32

I want a breast reduction, have done since I was young (20’s) I’m now 37 the weight of them just isn’t comfortable. I’m a 34G, my husband thinks I have great boobs….. he doesn’t understand why I would put myself at the risk of going under the knife for ‘vanity’.

Vanity- yeah of course I’d like to not have men starring at me across the street, of course I’d love to wear tops without thinking about how my boobs look, I look bigger than I actually am because of the boob shelf.

Practicality- I’d love to not have to put a bra on first thing in the mornings if we have guests or at my parents house, I’d love to feel comfortable playing/running with our DD, I can’t take my bra off around period as they are so heavy and painful.

Has anyone else on here had this procedure? Or wants it? Please reach out.

I had one. They regrew. Not quite as big but back to a 34G. Reduction was from J to C.

JDM625 · 25/05/2025 10:25

My mum did in her late 50's. Her boobs were always disproportionately bigger than the rest of her body and caused back ache. I think she was also a G/H cup and lost 1kg from each! She went down to a C/D cup. At first, it was a shock because she felt they were too small! She also had to learn what clothes suited her, because everything beforehand was geared to massive boobs and afterwards, she turned into a pear shape. 20yrs on, she is so much happier and is glad she did it.

GildedRage · 25/05/2025 10:30

Best thing I ever did!

I agree. Me too. They did grow back somewhat but nowhere near what they were and they are also pert!
10 years on, no regrets!

GildedRage · 25/05/2025 14:02

My weight fluctuates but I’d not say they’ve grown back.
Exercise is much easier without them flopping about, sleep more comfortable, heat more tolerable clothing fitting nicer. Zero downsides.

They re-grew!?!? Did you have children after?

Best best best decision ever, hi from Australia 😊😊 i went from a H to a C. 1.9kg and 1.7kg taken from each side. I can walk I can exercise. I can buy bras from cheaper places and not lingerie shops.

Readytohealnow · 26/05/2025 10:26

A lady at my gym had one. She had a very small frame and very large breasts and they were giving her terrible shoulder and back pain, and she was having to give up playing tennis which she loved. She is very happy now. Ignore DH. If they’re uncomfortable for you, that’s your health it’s affecting.

lalafox · 26/05/2025 10:27

Best thing I ever ever did. Had it done in my early 30s wish I’d have had it done earlier.

Strawberriesforever · 26/05/2025 10:34

If you want to have children/more children then I’d definitely do that first.

MorrisZapp · 26/05/2025 10:40

I did it and I'm over the moon! But men still stare, I'm a ridiculously perky 36d and if anything my boobs are more eye catching 😂

Recovery is no joke at all. Do your research, the thread on here is absolutely brilliant.

Magicmushroomsauce · 26/05/2025 10:42

Best thing I ever did, and I had them done in between DC 1 & 2 with no regrowth

AngelsWithSilverWings · 26/05/2025 10:48

I had one 9 years ago. Best thing I ever did for myself. Went from 34gg to 34d which is a perfect size for my shape.

My confidence was boosted so much. No more hiding under baggy clothes or hunching over to look smaller.

Buying clothes is a dream. I can now buy a standard size 12 dress and it fits. I used to have to buy a 14/16 top when I was a size 10 from the waist down so dresses were impossible.

Mine have not grown back even though I'm 55 now and have put on a little weight after starting HRT. My boobs always did stay the same size whatever so I guess it's just not area where I gain or lose weight.

I wish I'd done it sooner but I waited until my kids were at a more Independant age so that they were easier to manage while I was recovering from the surgery.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 26/05/2025 10:50

I had it done in my 20s and I was really happy with it as they were big and heavy. They have grown back somewhat but they are a better shape than they were originally. The only thing that I would caution is when I gave birth to my children I was unable to breastfeed them successfully as the milk production was very limited.

Nope. No more children. I had my 2 children in my 20s. The op was done in my mid 40's. I did regain some weight but breasts regrew out of all proportion to weight gain.

I still don't regret it though as they are less saggy now than they were before - although, at 70, they are not exactly perky

Timeforatincture · 27/05/2025 12:42

DSIS had it done in her early 50s. Her boobs were a bloody nuisance to her. She is delighted every day with the result.
I wouldn't be surprised if DD2, who takes after her aunt boobwise, has it done when she's older.

Cantthinkofagoodnametoday · 27/05/2025 12:51

I went from 34j to 34f when I was 24. I’m in my 40s now and I’m back to 34gg with no weight gain. Still the best thing I ever did though.

RachelRosing · 27/05/2025 12:54

I had them done in my 50's. I was probably G before I had my children JJ when I had the operation. The worst thing for me was it turned out to be a really long (8hr operation) but recovery was fine. I came out 36DD. Now 10 yrs later 36F - still great and have kept their shape. I have gained a bit of weight which is why the boob's are bigger. In all honesty I sometimes see women older than me with huge, heavy saggy boob's and think thank God I had it done.

Whyherewego · 27/05/2025 12:55

Best money I ever spent. Hands down. No question. And fwiw, my DP is equally happy with my post op cleavage! Not that it made a jot of difference to me what he thought

DeSoleil · 27/05/2025 13:19

Just be aware that for some women the breast tissue grows back and sometimes not evenly.

I used to work with a woman who had the reduction and was over the moon about it initially but then they started growing again especially on one side. She was in her early forties and had a terrible time. I can’t recall why but she was advised not to have more surgery and she had to wear padding in one side to even them up.

Thank you and well done to the perky breasts! Ha

This is great to hear. I’m 5ft 9 and 34G, I do worry I’ll regret it as my husbands thinks I will, but buying clothes and constantly having to go bigger on the top half but ends up not fitting right is so annoying. I near wear dresses unless super fitted, otherwise I look much bigger than I am. X

I keep catching pictures of myself or on the ring door camera and I’m like are my boobs touching my waist now…. Getting heavy and low. But is a 34G a massive size?? I don’t know. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is the scary part, my husband wonders why I would risk such a big op for perky smaller boobs….
