Job is sucking all pleasure out of my life, is this normal?

I would welcome some outside perspectives here as I feel a bit silly to confide in my friends etc at the moment but I can feel myself bottling things up which is never good.

I’ve been at the same company for all of my working life (over 10 years), enjoyed some promotions but have been stagnant in role for the last two years or so and no obvious progression in my department. I’ve had a couple of unsuccessful interviews elsewhere but nothing else job wise is really crying out at me.

My job is very isolating, mostly WFH and office once a week but all my colleagues are in another part of the country so there’s no in person collaboration. I always enjoyed the people side of my job but post Covid and with WFH etc that has completely gone.

I’m just going through the motions and feel like it’s having an impact on the rest of my life. I’ve no motivation to do anything this weekend, been dreading three days without anything on but struggling to bring myself to make plans. I have always enjoyed going to the gym but even that feels a stretch currently.

I’ve no doubt it stems from my job and general unhappiness with it. Everything just feels so mundane and it’s hard to get excited about things.

My job pays relatively well, good flexibility in terms of hours and generous holiday etc. This makes it harder when I occasionally think about changing career etc as there would be an initial pay cut.

I don’t really know what I expect people to say, just that I’m not being unreasonable to suggest that unhappiness with work can spill over into the rest of your life? Has anyone felt similar and got through it with a career change? x

Go get some careers advice from a professional. It’s important to feel fulfilled in your work.

What about the rest of your life - partner, children, family, friends holidays and hobbies?
