To try for another baby?

I've had two ectopic pregnancies, both in the same tube. That tube has now been removed. I had a pelvic inflammatory infection a couple of years ago which is a possible cause, but we don't know for sure.

During surgery, a doctor visually checked my other tube (the remaining one) and said he saw no damage to it. However, not all damage is always visible. My consultant says a hycosy also doesn't show all damage; she says she doesn't see the point of getting one and says the easiest way is IVF as it bypasses the tube, and won't matter if the remaining one is also damaged.

AIBU to want to try naturally with my remaining tube? Or am I being stupid and should go straight to IVF? Im 30 for context and would have to pay privately for IVF where I live. I am open to IVF, but currently I'm torn, as feel I still have one remaining tube that could be fine?

I need some honest answers or to hear from people who have been in my shoes.

I guess my AIBU is AIBU to try for another baby NATURALLY rather than at all to be clear

Freeze some eggs before starting to trying naturally, then try naturally.

What is the benefit of the egg freezing in my circumstance? I'm not against frozen transfer rather than FET but wondering why that order as a plan please thank you x

Of course you should try naturally if you still have a fallopian tube. Much more natural and free!

This is what my heart says, but I almost died with the second ectopic rupture and I'm basically terrified the remaining tube will also be damaged and same thing happens again. It might be fine though - the one with the ectopics is gone now. I don't know if it's foolish to try again and risk it. There is still a risk of ectopic with IVF but the risk is lower for someone in my circumstances according to the Dr - 10/15% chance of repeat ectopic naturally versus 5% chance with IVF.

It’s such a personal choice OP but if I were in your circumstances and a little worried about it I would probably go to the IVF route x

I had a successful pregnancy after similar issues. They took great care of me and I had an early scan to check position. I couldn't face going through the stress again a second though. The baby is 13 now and looking back I think the stress of ivf would be similar to being scared of an ectopic again

I would definitely try naturally whilst getting things going with IVF.

twice I was booked to start IVF and both times I fell pregnant naturally (sadly my first was a miscarriage). One of my tubes is blocked which was discovered through Hycosy. I’m 36 for context.

it’s always worth trying naturally but whilst having plan B in motion

wishing you all the best

My friend got pregnant no problems with one tube. I’d definitely try naturally before IVF. Good luck
