At least 3 currently active posts read like AI…

Have reported the most obvious one but this is tedious.

OP posts:

the ticket one?

I think I know which one you are referring to and yes they are.

Why AI Posts Can Be Genuinely Helpful on Mumsnet

I know the idea of AI writing posts might raise a few eyebrows – after all, Mumsnet is a community built on real experiences, shared wisdom, and a good dose of straight-talking. But hear me out – AI posts can actually be a valuable part of the mix.

AI doesn’t replace human advice, but it can be a useful tool, especially for quick information, emotional support phrased kindly, or clear explanations when you just don’t have the brain space to Google something for the tenth time that day (we’ve all been there).

AI can help clarify jargon-heavy topics – think education plans, medical terms, or tech queries – and give you a starting point before you chat with other parents who’ve been through it.

Of course, the heart of Mumsnet is still real parents sharing real life. AI can't offer the warmth of someone who's been there, or the brilliant humour that keeps so many of us coming back. But used thoughtfully, AI posts can support those conversations – not replace them.

So next time you see something that looks AI-written, don’t dismiss it outright. It might just be a helpful bit of info, a time-saver, or a gentle nudge in the right direction on a tough day.

😏

I think the OP means the thread was started using AI so the story is bullshit.

Yes - that’s exactly it. BS and pointless.

OP, it might be better to put this on Site Stuff (or ask MNHQ to move it) as then you're more likely to get a response from MNHQ.

I believe most posters (the non-AI ones) agree with you.

GarlicPile · 19/05/2025 21:40

My reply was written by ChatGPT. Just in case anyone missed what I thought obvious!

EmeraldRoulette · 19/05/2025 21:55

Yeah, it's annoying

In future, I imagine a lot of post will be AI

Maybe people will start going to the pub again which would be good for me!

Also a lot of posts promoting AI programmes.

notatinydancer · 19/05/2025 22:58

How do you tell ? I can never spot them.

I write like that as a matter of course - it is just another way of using and expressing sentence structure. There are an awful lot of people on here claiming "fake" or "AI" recently when, in fact, the poster may simply be an avid reader (which shapes the way language is expressed) or non-native (which has been proven to sound more AI as non-native speakers of English will often have been taught to use more flowery language with the aim of reaching higher academic levels).
