Specific gardening question

I love gardening and am new to it having only ever lived in a flat.
I now have a garden and love growing from seed. My house is small and I have 3 windowsills I can grow seeds on through the winter, but I need whatever I use to look pretty and nice decor. I don't want my windowsills with plastic plant pots on or propagators. What would be a good, pretty decorative way to do this?

Have posted an image of what I do: I fill cheap vases (B&M) and washed out dessert pots (Bonne Maman) with some decorative stones. On top of that I put a coir jiffy pod (Amazon; very good medium for seed growing as you can tell by the dried out colouring when more water is required). The seeds are sown into the hydrated jiffy pods. I put fake greenery on top for decoration, but that's purely optional. Currently the salvia seedlings are popping out high enough to rival the fake greenery! As you might know, it is better to water seedlings from the bottom than for water to go over the top. Just trickle water down the sides of the vase until the jiffy pods are sitting in water. Let them drink for ten to fifteen minutes before pouring away the excess. You don't want the pod itself sitting in water, (will encourage rot) but it's okay for some water to sit low at the very bottom of the vase as it encourages a hydrated environment.

Oh thanks. I have not heard of jiffy pod so will investigate!

Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening! You won't be planting seeds in winter. Spring and summer maybe. Are you interested in flowers or vegetables?

I'm interested in all of it. I have a really keen gardener friend who grows seeds indoors on her windowsills from early January, that's when I thought I'd start too. I just want a pretty way of doing it. Am excited to start!
