Getting annoyed by car drivers parking everywhere

butteredradish1 · 17/05/2025 16:41

Am I being unreasonable for getting annoyed at car drivers.

I have a child and now get annoyed when people without children park in these spaces or when families with children, who stay in the car, park in the spaces. When you have a newborn, c section etc... it's really annoying.

Now I do click and collect and people park in these spaces but doing a normal shop.

Of course blue badge holders have it much worse.

Even nursery they tell parents not to use the car park, but parents still do it.

Don't get me started on parents not using seat belts for their children etc.

I get really annoyed by it all, surely I'm not the only one?

I’ll add to that people who park on double yellow lines but seem to think it’s ok because they’ve got their hazards on 🙄

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/05/2025 21:00

Oh dear

blubbyblub · 17/05/2025 21:01

What spaces? You’ve said ‘these spaces’ but your title is ‘parking everywhere’ I have no idea what spaces you are talking about.

We've found our first person that parks in all the spaces above

So annoying! People actually think that's ok

Not necessarily, you're not being clear in your op. I'd assume you mean parent and child parking as that's where your op seems to lead.

What spaces above? What are you on about? Your OP is so badly written and now you are accusing me of something. I don’t even know what? Parking ‘everywhere’? In ‘these’ spaces? What does that even mean?
Is English your second language?

I think you need to re-read your OP from the point of view of someone who isn’t in your head. Your OP makes not a lot of sense. You refer to ‘these spaces’ but don’t actually elaborate what spaces you are referring to. Then you go into something about the nursery telling people to not park in the car park. What car park? The nursery car park?
maybe get someone to write it for you

butteredradish1 · 18/05/2025 01:23

Sorry for everyone
It's clearly designated spaces

Do you mean parent and baby spaces? If so, YABVU. It's so much easier and safer to park in spaces that are not close to the entrance. I actively avoid these spaces on purpose as they are busy.

All car parking spaces are clearly designated 🙄

What a weird post.

Asking if you’re being unreasonable to be annoyed at ‘car drivers’ when clearly you are a ‘car driver’ yourself - so why are you attributing this behaviour to all ‘car drivers’?

And on the point of whether you are the ‘only one’ bothered by people who don’t have kids with them parking in parent & child spaces - of course you aren’t, as you would know if you’d bothered to search for the hundreds of previous threads on this topic instead of starting this incredibly poorly written repeat.

Eminybob · 18/05/2025 04:56

I can’t get worked up about P&C spaces, it’s dangerous parking that gets on my nerves. As PP said, parking on a double yellow (I actually don’t understand why BB holders are allowed to do this as surely they are double yellow because it is dangerous to park there?)
or parking fully on the pavement meaning people have to walk in the road, or right on the corner of a junction, or in such a way that a car can barely squeeze past so an emergency vehicle has no chance.

Just the lack of following rules and being considerate of others is what I find most annoying.

I thought blue badge holders couldn't only park on yellow lines for a short period of time? I don't find disabled drivers are the issue, they account for so few drivers.

I find it hella dangerous to decant your child in a baby carrier in a normal car park

I get what you mean. People parking on pavements are really irritating. Where you can squeeze past your clothes get dirty.

It's hard cheese if someone's vehicle is at risk of damage where a wheelchair or pram has to squeeze past too.

Lottie2shoes · 18/05/2025 11:06

The double yellow lined one i agree with.

There are so many cars on the road that i have noticed alot of parking in tight spaces or near junctions where it makes it harder for drivers coming out, to be able to see. Them i agree with. These can be very dangerous too.

Parking in parent and baby spaces, not so much. i find these are just a faff that people always argue over or feel hard done by. We managed to get kids out before, yes it was a 5 second struggle but it was doable.
Now you have people feel peeved by, they do not have kids, baby is too young, kid is too old etc etc.

i do not know what the answer is except to maybe cut the amount of cars on the road, or to use smaller cars on urban roads so as to give more space and make sure there is enough parking for all. But then where do you draw the line?
Would we raise the age for car drivers or maybe lower the age? What then and is that fair?
Would we have a 2 car limit or even 1 for each house?

And on the opposite side of the road is a perfectly good parking space

Yeah. Thanks for the apology 🙄

Apora · 18/05/2025 16:27

Most of parking issues result from inadequate parking provision. If there were enough suitable and convenient parking spaces for things that people need to get to, then people wouldn’t do it.

This and the fact that many car park spaces are too narrow for people that struggle to get in and out of their cars but aren't disabled enough to qualify for a badge. I think car parks are really badly designed in so many different ways that it makes them horrible to use, and also dangerous places for children and the elderly.

unconditionalpurelove · 18/05/2025 20:21

People are incredibly selfish unfortunately 😕

Yes it is weird how blue badge holders can park on double yellows now that you mention it.
