Aged 37 and I'm always tired.... work is incredibly stressful, including working with unpleasant people which is a huge contribution but it's a job and pays decent in this day and age.... I come home from work and I'm just tired...too tired too even face doing food mentally, too tired to look ahead and book experiences/holidays without it ending up a last minute stress. Sometimes my child is speaking and its not digesting....im too tired to make a decision.......... tell me others are feing like this??

Have u had your feretin , b12 & vit d all checked ?

Preachscreen · 17/05/2025 07:57

I'm not sure if it's just mental exhaustion and fluctuating anxiety from my job otherwise I did have b12 checked going back 3-4 years, maybe worth checking again?. I can't change my job or workplace environment even to see if it makes a difference

I don’t think this level of exhaustion is normal no. Have you had your thyroid checked as well as the other levels mentioned above. Or do you think this could be a mental health issue? You sound very low.

Get a blood test. Simple and quick

Apksbdv · 17/05/2025 08:02

I’ve had this and vitamin D, iron and exercise have helped. I had blood tests which just showed the vitamin d. For me a fair amount of it is stress showing physically so the exercise helped there. Also stopping or reducing alcohol as that added to it

Having low feretin and / or vit d and / or b12 can contribute to feeling ugh

I feel a lot like this. I had blood tests recently (unconnected, to check for autoimmune diseases) and all that came back was low folate. B12 and thyroid were low but classed as normal so the only advice I was given was to improve my diet. I already eat very very well! I am now taking B12, Vitamin D and folic acid supplements and have been for 4-6 weeks, haven't noticed any difference yet.

I feel dug up most days.

What number was your b12 ?
& what number was your feretin ?

Ultimately NHS wide bands often mark stuff as normal
Whereas a consultant often says it needs to ideally be x y z

B12 for example - nhs can call 200 normal

Whereas a gynacological med consultant may say thats lower end

Can you fit in some exercise to raise your energy levels

Dreichweather · 17/05/2025 14:23

If your job pays well can you ask to drop to 4 days a week.

Winterymix · 17/05/2025 15:30

I agree, get a full blood panel done that includes ferritin/iron, B12, Vit D and thyroid. Any of those can cause fatigue and also agree with previous points that what the NHS considers in range might not be right for you.
