Neighbour constantly parks close to the boundary and her kids constantly walk all over my plants

So basically my neighbour closes practically on the boundary that separates our homes just so her garden area at the front isn’t blocked by her car.

Every single time her kids will walk all over my plants.
Its one of those bay parking drives so a fence would stick out like a sore thumb.
Any suggestions on how to stop this as I am sick of her kids standing all over my plants.

What has she said when you've asked her to stop her kids walking on it?

FuzzyPuffling · 16/05/2025 13:24

Big sign saying " These plants have been sprayed with a contact insecticide. Dangerous to humans. Do not touch".

EdisinBurgh · 16/05/2025 13:26

So annoying! I had a similar problem - I put out about ten potted plants to make a fence-like structure and that helped deter. Spiky ones even better!

(Recommend Cadange which is very thorny and fast growing)

gardenfever · 16/05/2025 13:27

She just says she will tell them and then shrugs.
I have had a lot of problems with her and her kids.
Knocking on door every day after school to retrieve ball thrown over multiple times a day.

Football thrown at cars deliberately

Her cats pooing in my garden until I blocked it off - she didn’t like that.

Her kids playing practically on my drive next to my car.

They are a nightmare.

I don’t understand about the fence? Could you put something there that’s just tall enough to stop them opening the doors on that side - a 2ft high fence or some posts and string even. Even if it was temporary she’d have to get into the habit of parking further across.

EdisinBurgh · 16/05/2025 13:30

I think we need a diagram OP…

I don't think we do.

Fatrosrhun · 16/05/2025 13:35

I don’t understand why you can’t have a fence?

BangersAndGnash · 16/05/2025 13:35

A strand of barbed wire between two posts.

Shatteredallthetimelately · 16/05/2025 13:43

Box type planters about 18/24 inches high.

BigDeepBreaths · 16/05/2025 13:46

Can you get a remote controlled sprinkler for that area and set it off just as she parks up. Or even better just as the kids are trampling over your plants?

gardenfever · 16/05/2025 13:46

Planters wit pyracanthas in seem like a good idea.

I say a fence would like silly as the driveway is essentially one of those bay parking areas.

Box planters definitely. Or a hedge?

Superscientist · 16/05/2025 14:02

Spikey plants or take up the plants completely and cover the border with manure.
Would a hedge work better than a fence?

spoonbillstretford · 16/05/2025 14:04

Blackthorn is another good one. Flowers, berries, sharp thorns.

skkyelark · 16/05/2025 14:04

Haven't you always wanted a lovely border of roses? Or perhaps holly? Or pyracanthas as mentioned above? Gooseberries also have fairly fierce thorns, fruit and protection in one go.

Alternatively, a low 'decorative' fence that happens to be high enough to stop car doors opening, or a few strategically placed boulders in amongst the plants for the same door-blocking effect.

heavenisaplaceonearth · 16/05/2025 14:08

Relocate the cat poo so her children take it home on their feet.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/05/2025 14:08

Rosa Rugosa.
Beautiful fragrant flowers, fat red rosehips, makes a fab hedge....and has the thorns from hell.

Throwmoneyatit · 16/05/2025 14:10

Holly looks gorgeous all year round 😉

Identiy · 16/05/2025 14:12

Dig out your current plants, dig in a load of manure until the new plants get established. Plant things that are as thorny as hell.

gardenfever · 16/05/2025 14:12

Thank you for all the lovely suggestions, some good ideas for the hedging.

Grow stinging nettles

Whyx · 16/05/2025 14:14

Horse manure - great on roses. Not so nice on carpets 😆

Fish, Blood and Bone is also a lovely old school option.
