Ok, so long story kept relatively sort -
there’s a woman who lives at the bottom of our cul-de-sac. Lives her entire life on Facebook, so is always posting on community pages.
i’ve seen several posts from her asking if anyone could spare a couple of hours to sit in with her whilst she drives as she’s learning, talk about doing her theory etc.
I’ve now seen her driving twice, alone.
now, partly because my children play on the street, and partly because I’m a nosey cow, I clicked on her (public) Facebook profile and there is not a single post about her passing her test, being able to drive etc etc, which wouldn’t be a problem ordinarily, but she is the type of woman to post when she’s caught up with her housework, or to tell people what she’s had for tea, or to complain about the weather.
There’s actually quite a few posts complaining about flashes and floaters in her eyes and her poor vision!
is there anyone I can call to tell my concerns to (that she’s driving without a full licence)?

This will be about a man, I’d bet a lot on it! The Op seems inordinately peeved at this woman extensive SM usage, which the OP appears to share!

Mate, she’s in her 60’s and I am not. There is zero chance of there being any cross over men wise.
as I said up thread, this is purely out of concern for my children, and to a lesser extent my own vehicle.
I appreciate your previous concern re my mental health, but can assure you that it’s really not needed.

anyway, sat down last night once I saw her again so had her number plate, and filled out an online form on the crime stoppers website - couldn’t find a relevant form on the dvla website or local police website, but will give 101 a call on Monday in case crime stoppers was the wrong place.

will update if anything comes of it, or not.

Why are you following so religiously a woman in her 60s you don’t know?

Read back through your posts… you describe her as living her life through SM

But you’d have to also be living your life through watching SM if you have concluded this surely

Jesus Christ.

i am not living my life through this woman - I wouldn’t have given her driving by a second thought if I hadn’t seen her posting so frequently on our community page about needing someone to sit with her so she can get some practice in.

it took me a total of 10 mins maximum to click on her profile and scroll down a few weeks to see that at no stage did she mention passing, however there were multiple posts about her dinner that night, her shopping being completed, bills paid and other such mundane things.

i don’t log in every hour, on the hour to check what she’s doing, so calm down.

would your preference be that I didn’t question it, and she ended up causing an accident or worse?

No idea why you’re getting such a hard time here OP. If she has a driving license then no harm done. If she doesn’t, you’ve potentially avoided a serious accident. I totally get why you’re concerned.

Absolutely report to dvla

baffling you have chosen to spend what clearly is quite a bit of time concluding she spend her life on SM rather than just, you know, google what to do if you suspect someone driving without a license.

answer: report to dvla

No - but the plot thickens!

A few days after I posted this (and filled an online crime stoppers form) I saw a post on our town community Facebook page (I know, can’t wait for all the posts suggesting I spend too much time scrolling!) from a woman basically shaming her for selling her a dodgy car - the car I’d seen her driving, saying that she’d sold it with a fake mot certificate.
there were loads of people commenting that they’d had run ins with her, and lots of people also saying that she was driving without a full licence after previously being banned.
the woman who bought the car said she’d reported her with all the relevant authorities, so I decided to leave it with her.

Multiple people saying to report anonymously to DVLA, but it’s not that simple! We have an old lady living in a nearby block who everyone knows has dementia; she regularly abandons her car in the middle of the turning road or overhanging a corner, and goes home, causing massive inconvenience to everyone else. Her car is covered in dents and scrapes and she has hit several other parked vehicles. It is bonkers!

We used the DVLA reporting portal and gave all these details, including her make, model & reg number. Got an email back from DVLA saying that they couldn’t do anything without her full name and address, which I do not know. I phoned DVLA and explained that school children use the close to cut through en route to school and this woman is going to knock someone down, but they reiterated that they can’t do anything without her full details. Even though DVLA know damn well who the registered keeper of the car is!

Several of us have reported multiple times to the police and the council when she has blocked the turning road or parked in a dangerous position, sometimes for up to 48 hours and absolutely no one has responded. The last time we reported to police they said they would ‘try’ to send a patrol car out but never did.

Who buys a car second hand and doesn’t bother to do the 30 second DVLA online MOT check?!
