Right so as a child and a teen I was desperate for singing lessons, I used to beg and beg but parents always said no, they were more play and instrument it’s better but I always chocked the singing part of the music exams, I just got so nervous. I was a shy child but it was always my passion and when my parents left me at home alone, I’d always sing sing sing, luckily neighbours.

i finally managed to convince my mum to take me to one, i had to to pay, it was about 15 mins drive away, but she didn’t want to take me anymore after the one. So it all ended there. But the teacher said I had a nice voice

now I’m 35, man do I wish I could sing. Would it be totally weird to get singing lessons as an adult, I’m going to do naff all with it just sing around the house more.

do people even do those?

is it weird?

google seems to be returning children’s singing teachers or performance camps

Go for it

MounjaroMounjaro · 14/05/2025 23:32

Could you join a local (non-religious) choir? A lot of people do that now and say it's really good fun.

steff13 · 14/05/2025 23:33

Why would it be weird? It's no different than any other hobby.

FloofyKat · 14/05/2025 23:33

Do it! And join a choir or singing group so you can put your learning and enthusiasm to good use.

SALaw · 14/05/2025 23:35

Of course people do that. If they didn’t there wouldn’t be singing teachers. My pal gets online lessons from David Grant off of Cary and David vocal coaches from TV

I know several adults who have singing lessons I'm surprised you can only find children's singing teachers on Google..

LasVegass · 14/05/2025 23:37

I did this in my early 30s. Enjoyable but no lasting effect, sad to report 😂

My DH and I are in our 50s and had our first singing lesson last week. We do sing in a church choir and the choir leader is a singer and singing teacher.

Oh I love this!

I think it will help my confidence too!

I don’t even have the bottle for karaoke lol

No it wouldn’t be weird at all to have singing lessons as an adult. I was looking into singing lessons recently for a relative who’s nearly 60! Who hasn’t sung regularly since the school choir!

Have another Google with different search terms and see who’s available in your local area. Joining a choir is a great idea, and they’re very popular at the moment.

The Natural Voice Network have teachers and choirs. They believe that ‘singing is everyone’s birthright, regardless of musical experience or ability’
