Just wondering what others think. We’d just landed from a flight with our baby and were waiting (alongside others) for the shuttle bus to the car park. No real queue, so when the bus arrived, it was a bit of a free-for-all with people rushing on.
I had our baby in the pram, and my husband was handling our luggage. I got on first and went to the designated wheelchair/pushchair area, only to find a young couple had taken up three of the four fold-down seats with a very large piece of luggage spread across them. It was far too big to fit in the standard luggage racks.
The man was about to sit on the fourth seat, and I politely asked, “Please could I have some space for my stroller?”
He looked annoyed and replied, “But where am I supposed to sit?” His partner, very reasonably said, “Well, you can stand up.” I thanked them and focused on settling the baby. He sulked the whole ride.
He even muttered, “Oh, I didn’t know you could stand on a bus.” (???)
To top it off, it was his girlfriend who offered to let me and the pram get off first. She had lovely manners. Honestly, if I had a quiet moment with her, I’d tell her she can do so much better than a man who sulks about standing while blocking a mum and baby from an accessible space.
AIBU? Or did I do the right thing?
