Mounjaro with 2 stone to lose.

I am approx half a stone overweight by BMI standards, but realistically I need to lose 2 stone to be in comfortable healthy weight. I have tried for years since having my baby to shift this weight. My friends are taking the injections and swear by it.

I am not massively overweight - would I even be eligible for weight loss injections like mounjaro? Are there any bad or permanent side effects? My DH is deathly against it and swears ‘tons of women are getting osteoporosis’ because of the injections. Any truth to this?

Please only factual information or advice - I know to eat better, move more etc. If it was that simple I would have lost the weight by now.

its been fantastic for me op.
my bmi was 27 with two other medical issues: asthma & peri menopausal symptoms.
no difficult side effects here, no hair loss. I feel full of hope. I reached my goal weight in 4 months.
it’s going to be available over the counter soon.
the scare stories are usually because people forget to drink water.
I would say it’s as ground breaking as the contraceptive pill - and that got a lot of stick at the time…

I doubt whether it's going to be made available OTC soon when the online pharmacies are becoming more and more stringent when prescribing it. Where did you hear this from please?

its been in the news? Obesity costs the nhs 6bn a year.. they’re wisely considering it at ‘prescription’ cost.
my flipping NHS hrt nurse was irate I was on it.. well it’s cleared all my peri menopausal issues.. and I feel fantastic

What makes you think you'd be eligible for this medical treatment for obesity?

This. It's a prescription only medication for a condition you don't have.

And this is why it worries me that so many people are lying to get it online. It is not designed for people with normal eating habits and normal weight, even if they would like to be a bit thinner. Who knows what sort of harm you could be doing to your body?

That's not the same as being available over the counter nor does it mean anyone will be able to get it!

No, you definitely wouldn’t be eligible. You can easily lose half a stone with calorie counting. Don’t take the risk of these injections when you’re not that overweight. I know acute pancreatitis is one of the risks, trust me, you don’t want this. Gallstones caused mine and ruined my life. Now have half a pancreas and 15yrs so far of constant pain. Why take something that could risk such severe side effects when you’re only marginally overweight. I was a similar BMI in 2020 and lose 2 stone in 18 months via calorie counting. It can be done.

OP would you consider using Jane Plan for a couple of months? I've heard great stories plus it's all done for you. No cooking!
I did my stint on wegovy at BMI 30 but I had already lost four stone through nutracheck. I've had two hospital admissions in the last six months due to the inflammation of my gallbladder. I'm now waiting for surgery but due to an urgent gynecological issue I've had to wait post this female surgery. I'm in agony.
Obesity is a serious condition causing food noise and related mental health issues. Is this you? I had therapy due to my food and drink issues and that made the difference for me. I had been fat for twenty years. I now don't need to numb the pain with food.
WLJ work extremely well for obese people. They are life changing but you still have to be in calorie deficit. You're not obese and I wouldn't risk the complications by obtaining this drug fraudantly.
