THIS is another reason why we don't want to share our toilet space

I'm so angry. I just went to the toilet and had the choice of the usual women's row of toilets and the disabled single use cubicle and chose the latter because of being on my period and the handbasin etc being in close proximity. A man walked out of this toilet as I approached and when I went inside I found (well I presume it was him!) he had put the seat up but had pissed all over the rim of the toilet bowl and the back as well as the floor around it. He hadn't even wiped it. I would bet he hadn't washed his hands either.

I walked out and wouldn't use it. As you do.

Not threatening I know but just another argument for NOT sharing toilet space.

Aaah, sitting in piss. My favourite

Catsbreakfast · 12/05/2025 16:27

You’re not disabled but feel entitled to the disabled toilet and moan about not wanting to share toilets? Are you for real?

Disabled toilets are almost always mixed sex in my experience so not sure how that would have been avoided.

Absolutely for real. It is for anyone to use. (How do you know I'm not disabled though, did I state that I wasn't?)

That’s disgusting.

There’s an account on Instagram where a guy deliberately does this. He pisses all over the place in public, restaurant and pub toilets. Hits the walls, floor, cistern, toilet roll, sink etc.

Creatures.

Iamthemoom · 12/05/2025 16:33

I went somewhere for work recently that only had unisex spaces (as seems to be becoming more common). This was in a very smart office building where the vast majority of people working in this area are highly intelligent, highly skilled. All three cubicles had seats up, urine all over the rim, all over the raised seat and pools and spatters of urine on the floor. They stank and were just generally disgusting. One had the only loo roll sitting in a pool of water!

We shouldn’t have to share with these man children who it seems have never been taught how to use a toilet properly.

It’s not for anyone to use, it’s for disabled people and since you didn’t mention your disability in your post but gave a completely ridiculous reason for needing to use the one disabled toilet, it’s fair to assume you’re not.

Instinct1 · 12/05/2025 16:37

Do you have a disability or were you literally only using it because you had your period - something which many of the women using the women's facilities experience also. If the latter, why do you think it's reasonable for those with a genuine need of the accessible facilities to have to share with you?

WinterKitchen · 12/05/2025 16:41

Good old mumsnetters missing the point again which is about men behaving like tomcats not whether the OP was unreasonable for presumably trying to make life a bit easier.

@Instinct1 presumably because she doesn't wee all over the place.

WitchesofPainswick · 12/05/2025 16:44

Toilets often spurt water when they are flushing - it's not necessarily piss. I find this on trains all the time. TBH if the seat was up, I'd just bang it down and sit on that. Seems overly dramatic to me.

HuffleMyPuffle · 12/05/2025 16:47

I've been in plenty of disgusting ladies loos
Blood, shit, piss over the seat, toilet roll on the floor and blocking the loo, period items not pushed in the bin...

MaidOfSteel · 12/05/2025 16:50

Welcome to the world of only being able to use disabled facilities.

If you don’t have a disability necessitating the use of an accessible toilet, though, please don’t make a habit of it.

ZaZathecat · 12/05/2025 17:07

I'd have thought that transwomen prefer to do things as women do and sit down to pee. It's more likely the macho blokes who spray it all around

Fruitbat99 · 12/05/2025 17:11

Not sure how that relates to sharing a toilet. Unless this actually happened in a female toilet then there's no argument.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/05/2025 17:15

You do understand that many disabled people find using public lavatories very difficult and are not always able to clean up after use?

Are you disabled, OP? Who do you mean by “we”? I’m a 61 year old biological female. I wouldn’t expect to find a facility for disabled users spotless, for many quite obvious reasons.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/05/2025 17:17

Edited

By making her life “a bit easier”, OP was potentially making life a great deal harder for a disabled patron.

If OP is disabled, why not say so? Having your period is not generally a disability.

ouch321 · 12/05/2025 17:24

If you use a cup whilst 'on' you need a sink inside the cubicle. Generally it's only the accessible one that has that.
The same doesn't apply for using a pad or tampon for (hopefully) obvious reasons.

Jacarandill · 12/05/2025 17:34

Has it occurred to you that he might be genuinely disabled and have trouble when using the toilet?

You, on the other hand, are presumably not disabled and shouldn’t have been using a facility that is set aside for people who are.

Because you stated you had the choice of normal ladies or the disabled choice and u chose disabled because your on your period. That's not a disability or is it now 🤔

AgnesX · 12/05/2025 18:28

Oh the irony. Since when did being on your period count as a disability.

CorkBottlePink · 12/05/2025 18:28

Being on your period is not a disability.

You're as bad as he was.

Disabled toilets are often empty (because thankfully people with disabilities are in a minority) so it makes perfect sense to use them when the others are full, as long as priority is given to someone who can only use the disabled facilities should one arrive.

I do have need of disabled facilities but have absolutely no problem with an able-bodied person using them when they are not in use.

NoisyLemonDog · 12/05/2025 18:37

I don't want to share with men. Hygiene is a factor. Non disabled people shouldn't use the disabled toilets, but this is a separate topic.

My bigger concern about mixed sex toilets is the opportunity for antisocial men to place spy cameras.

3 toilet cubicles in M&S ladies, every single one had faeces stuck to the toilet bowl….I had to use it. A brush was provided in each cubicle. This is not a men only problem!

You said you chose to use the disabled toilet.
