Should I push the consultant more or am I going crazy?

I have had four lots of low platelet readings in a row (around 100) with 4-6 weeks inbetween and I’ve had other readings around 250.

I always get clumping in the standard bottle so they do it in the special bottles (EDTA / sodium citrate). The GP wrote to the consultant with my results and noted around my tiredness levels (that come and go). I also have these red marks all over my body.

However the consultant just said it’s due to clumping in the bottles and it’s not an issue, never even saw me. Does this feel right? I’m inclined to leave it as my tiredness levels have got better. I just know next time I get tired (it’s sleeping 12-14hrs a day for around 4-6 weeks) I might regret not pushing when I’m feeling better.

Should I push the consultant more or am I going crazy?

That’s what the GP codes my blood results as but the consultant didn’t seem bothered. I’m unsure if it’s an issue or not now

platelet clumping isn't a physiological problem, it's a reaction between the platelets and the equipment. Bet the haematologist has looked down a microscope and that's why they're happy that your platelets are ok.

You don't start bleeding more until platelets get below 50, and don't start bleeding spontaneously until platelets are 10-15, so really no need to worry, especially if up and down rather than a persistent downward trend..

Presumably you have either seen a haematologist or your GP has had advice from one to check for underlying causes, so at this stage I'd just watch and wait.

They haven’t confirm they did blood smear to check, which is maybe what I should ask. Thanks

The bleeding isn’t a major concern as you said it’s got to be lower. GP messaged the consultant for advice.

It’s the tiredness that’s horrific when it kicks off. Happened twice last year and it’s worse than new born / pregnant tiredness. Lasts 6 weeks at time. Thoughts were along an auto immune condition, but they are struggling to work out what it is. Nothing comes back out of spec than the platelets.
