To start a thread of lovely things

this forum is so typically used for griping (and I include myself in that, I love a grumble as much as the next person), I thought I’d balance the scales by starting a thread of things to be thankful for.

After years of renting, losing my parents and having a few shit years, I am finally sitting in my garden in a house that I own, having a glass of wine and listening to the birds. The dog is asleep on the grass, my bulbs are coming up and I’m watching the planes go overhead. Feeling very lucky. Feel free to join in with your own.

Took a trip to the seaside today, walked along the beach, sandals in hand, warm sun on my skin, water lapping at my toes. Simple pleasures, warmed my soul.

I took my 13 year old DD into Chinatown in London today, as she’d never been, despite us living not far away. It was just such a lovely afternoon, just the two of us, wandering around in the sun, taking in all the sights and smells, and having whatever we fancied to eat - fluffy bao buns, spicy chicken dumplings, she fancied a corn dog, pork crispy pancake, then Nutella filled fish shaped sweet desserts.
Then, to a matinee of a musical, a proper feel good show, which we both loved.

One of those perfect afternoons, where nothing went wrong, and she was so appreciative and delightful - made me grateful to have a teen who enjoys spending time together.

This is a lovely thread ❤️

We are home after a lovely weekend in London with SIL and BIL taking our 2 DC and DN to see Matilda the Musical. They’re only young (4,6 and 8) and they loved it! Past me did future me a huge favour too before we left home on Friday and popped fresh bedding on. Future me is currently snuggled up in it and is very grateful!

Turning the corner after cellulitis, got the catheter out today 🙂 got a question cleared up once and for all.

What I’ve been left with I can overcome.

A nurse has just seen me and said what a remarkable difference.
When these people see you at your worst, what a rise it must be.

An elderly lady is willing to sell me her automatic vehicle she stopped driving if I have to give up my beloved manual car.

So lucky.

Numb tummy and pressure I had with a fibroid has also gone.

Very early morning on a salt marsh. Watched a roe deer jumping creeks as if it was having fun. The oyster catchers calling, and the white egret, and the geese flying in pairs, just beautiful. Walked back under a hedge of may blossom in flower- snow white with nutmeg dusting and smelling like posh perfume. Cooked lunch and cheese scones for my mum and everything worked (this hardly ever happens).

My DM has been unwell recently and just over a week ago had a pacemaker fitted. DH and I stayed with her over the weekend to help out and keep her company and were expecting to be just sitting in her flat, not doing much apart from her chores. But no, she's suddenly got more colour, got more energy and is steadier on her feet. So we went for a drive, went out for a coffee, went out for a lovely Sunday lunch in wonderful weather and Mum ate it all plus pudding. She's 88 and the pacemaker seems to have given her a real boost and she's recovering from the procedure so rapidly. So that's my lovely thing.
