To Think I could get a job working from home?

Would appreciate any advice or hearing from anyone who has an admin role working from home full-time.

I have worked from home full-time in a very pressurised role for the last 10 years. I have mobility issues which make it difficult for me to get into an office but I am not sure how much longer I can cope with the demands of my current job.

Am I being unreasonable to think it would be possible to get an admin role where I could work from home full-time. Salary is not too much of an issue as I am at an age where I could access a pension but it would not be enough to live on so I would still need to work to supplement my income.

Thoughts/advice gratefully received.

I work from home part time, flexi hours, great pay, low stress, admin type role.

Of course it's possible, you just need to apply for the roles you'd like.

I think so! As long as you’re realistic about salary, and how long it’d take/how many applications you’ll need to make to get a role. I hire for a remote-only company and I’d say on average the applicants we take on say they have submitted over 100 applications - for generic admin roles it can easily be double that. If you can, I’d look into any roles related to your current experience, over general admin.

Have a look at The Work from Home Hub - UK on Facebook, she posts loads of vacancies and gives advice too.

They are out there but as PP said, there’s a lot of applicants.

I took a pay cut recently for a solely remote job.

You mention your health, it would be worth asking if remote working could be a reasonable adjustment if you see a hybrid role you’re interested in.

Of course it’s possible, but would depend on your skills and industry. There are certain industries where 500+ people are applying for one remote role. It took me six months and about 400 job applications to find my latest remote role a couple of years ago, and one of my old colleagues was unemployed for a year with the same problem. I’m not saying this to say you can’t by any means, but be prepared to fight for it with a polished CV and being proactive about applying to jobs early etc.
