AIBU to ask, condense hours or not?

Finalising flexi working request this week to reduce hours from full time. I thought I would try and condense my hours slightly and do 0.7 in 3 days (this makes it exactly an hour more every day) than 0.6. For doing an extra hour each day, it would mean a take home of about £200 more a month after tax and deductions. £50 a week thereabouts. Not major money but it might be nice to have the additional disposable income as a household. DH thinks it’s not worth it for an extra hour on to each day, plus a commute, which would make it very late getting home. At the moment (well when not on maternity leave) I pretty much manage my own workload and I’m not massively monitored. I would say I check in with my manager weekly on average. Could I be drawing attention to myself if I reduce my hours, particularly as I am already going to be PT? I don’t know whether there would be increased monitoring to make sure my output and productivity are on track, whereas if I just did standard hours I imagine I would have the same autonomy as before.

Any advice or experience welcome

I think your proposal will be better thought of if you work one of your days on a Friday. I reduced from five days to four a few years ago, and choosing Monday as a non-working day has worked well. No one asking me to swap days, accommodating meetings so I can attend, for example.

At my previous company every did compressed hours - a huge perk which we all loved as it gives you an extra day free. Everyone works 40-60 minutes extra per day anyhow so by formalising it, it's not really that much more than you would do without a formal agreement.
