First world problem but I genuinely want to know how people deal with Velcro fastenings and scarves. I’m fed up with having a scarf ruined when it comes into contact with the Velcro, lots of puckering going on! I wear quite a few ‘walking’ jackets and they all seem to have a zip and also a Velcro fasteners. I’ve tried to choose coats without the stuff but it’s almost impossible. Even the jacket supplied to me by the charity I work for has this problem. Please tell me if any of you have a solution. (Don’t say ‘don’t have scarves’! How else am I going to hide my newly acquired chicken neck!?)

If you don't use the velcro fastenings, buy some more velcro, cut it to size and and use it to neutralise the bits on the jacket.

DS had M&S school shirts and they had velcro at the collar rather than a button which in theory was a good idea for kids

But boy, I was forever having to disentangle the bloody shirts from each other

Unpick the stitching on the hook side and remove it. You'll lose the storm flap closure though. You could remove both sides and use furrier clips instead.

I agree with @FuzzyPuffling , just stick a bit of spare velcro to the hooky bit .
Then you can take the 'cover' off when you want to fasten your coller up

You could wear one of those neck warmers instead of a scarf, I've got a Turtle Doves one, very warm.
