To use chicken sausages that have condensation inside the packaging?

Just about to start dinner.

got heck chicken sausages out of fridge where they’ve been for a week (u/b 15th May) and the inside of the packaging has condensation.

I’ve checked well and can’t see any broken seal, so I’ve given them a sniff and chucked them in the oven.

DP says it’s not normal for condensation to form inside a sealed pack of meat and is refusing to eat them and wants to order a take away (delivery tomorrow so nothing else in the house)

who’s right?! I don’t fancy food poisoning if I’m honest!

I’d eat them.

They will be fine. Your husband just wants a take away.

To my knowledge condensation isn't poisonous!

I think the concern is why there’s water inside the package for something that has never been heated!

Condensation comes from water. Which chicken has in it. Agree he wants a takeaway.

shellyleppard · 09/05/2025 18:07

Cook the sausages and freeze?? Then hubby can treat you both to a takeaway 😁

Chicken5ausage · 09/05/2025 18:08

I’ve had that a few times with pork sausages, always used them and never been unwell!

I wonder if I we’ve just never noticed before because usually pork sausage are in paper type packaging so not see through whereas these chicken ones are in the rigid plastic a bit like mince meat

Possibly. I get the Richmond sausages and I’ve had it appear slightly on the little transparent ‘window’ on them, then when I’ve opened them it has been very slightly accumulated in the end of the packaging near the sealed ends. As I said though, it’s never made us unwell!

They'll be fine to eat.
I have some cooked chicken in the fridge, still sealed in the pack, and there's some condensation on the film - probably because the fridge is v cold (trying to cool down some beer).
I've had this before too, with packs of ham and they've been absolutely fine.

He definitely wants a takeaway. 🍕🍔🍟

Thanks all! I shall report back if illness occurs!
