To buy a trampoline as a childless adult

I have recently bought my first house... always loved trampolines as a child. Have seen someone advertising a secondhand trampoline on Facebook at a good price. WIBU to buy one and put it in my garden? I'm single and don't have any kids. My next door neighbours are a retired couple and I'm worried they would judge me bouncing in the next garden over!

Do it and enjoy it!!

I used to love trampolines when I was little, currently pregnant with my second child after having my pelvic floor destroyed by my daughter and I couldn’t do 3 bounces without pissing myself now😂 bounce and enjoy!!

Have you been on one since being a kid? I’d maybe see if you enjoy it as much as a grown up. Sometimes I have a go with the kids and it’s really not fun anymore!

Very true!! We got one when the kids were small and I was telling them all how good I used to be. Holy moly I did seat drop and jarred my back and neck so badly. Never again!

OP if you want one go for it. Don't worry about your neighbours. Just tell them it's for fitness. Just be careful doing anything fancy lol.

I’m a middle aged woman with no children - there are lots of us in my road. If you were my neighbour I’d be asking if I could have a go.

Ooh, could be quite a lucrative sideline - with adult neighbours all queuing up for 15 minutes' bouncing for a fiver.

You'd have to start spreading rumours about yourself being the local drug dealer or something, though, as a cover story to avoid embarrassing any of your customers getting their guilty childlike pleasures!!

I’d get one dug into the ground rather than a crappy kids one on a squeaky metal frame!

Please do it! Who cares what anyone thinks. I hope you enjoy your Trampoline, live is too short to not enjoy yourself.

Do what the fuck you want my darling

Possibly my favourite ever post on MN. And I’ve been here years!

Jennifershuffles · 08/05/2025 22:07

Do it! You can always sell it on again if you get sick of it

SueSuddio · 08/05/2025 22:34

Definitely. It'd be quite fun to spot one of my neighbours having a bounce on a trampoline with some abandon.

This reminds me of when DH and I saw two nuns in a play park on the swings.

Get the trampoline!! Stuff what your neighbours do or don't think. If you get bored of it after summer, then just sell it on ☺️
