AIBU to keep the sticker album?

Posting here for traffic.

DS7 has a Panini Premier League sticker album that he is completing - has a fair bit of it done already. We have recently taken in two cats, and tonight one of them got confused as the litter tray had the lid on, which is doesn’t usually; it has wee’d all over said sticker album in its confusion. DH is of the opinion that we should let it dry out and disinfect (and also iron) the sticker album tomorrow. I think it’s a bit rank, and also is cat wee like this possibly toxic, even when dry?

DS11 has the same album, similarly quite well completed; he isn’t a huge football fan so wondering whether to offer to pay him to give his brother the other album. But I’m aware this idea may not fly.

AIBU to keep the smelly, pissy album?

I think you're going to need a new album. It's going to smell even worse tomorrow.
So pay DS11 or start again.

Eenameenadeeka · 07/05/2025 23:54

Yuck I'd definitely throw it away. It will stink forever and I wouldn't want a child playing with it.

HamieandHave · 07/05/2025 23:54

Buy him a new one

There's really no coming back from a cat pee. At least not on something like that.

splendidpickle · 08/05/2025 00:15

I don't think you can keep the album, it's going to smell pretty rank!
If you post on one of the sticker swap groups on Facebook, people might be kind enough to send you some stickers to get going again. There's also cheap bundles available now it's getting towards the end of the season.

Thanks! I totally agree. You know what men can be like, they want to salvage everything…

It's not just a sticker album

Your DS has put quite a bit of time and effort into it, for boys that age it's an achievement to complete one. Did your DH do the album with him? Is it something they've bonded over?

I'd at least try to salvage it. It's probably not going to work but throwing it away without trying is going to look like you don't care about his achievements

Londonrach1 · 08/05/2025 07:16

Start again I'm afraid. I wouldn't want my child playing with an item that's been covered with cat wee

BaronessBomburst · 08/05/2025 08:08

You might be able to salvage some of the stickers. Cut them out, rather than trying to peel them off.

HollidaySunshine · 08/05/2025 08:09

It’s unsalvageble

I know, that’s the thing. It’s the time spent on it (and the money, my God!). Actually he has probably bonded with me more as I’m the one who buys surprise stickers etc, asks him who he’s got in the packs etc. So I feel sad about that.

It's a real shame after all that work
