To buy a new fridge freezer?

Apologies in advance for what is probably an incredibly dull thread, but I’m wondering if there’s something I’ve missed.

I can’t remember exactly how long I’ve had my fridge freezer, maybe 6 years or so. It wasn’t expensive, it’s a Hisense one, but it works perfectly still.

However, over the years various shelves and drawers have become broken, and the other day I decided to do something about it and replace them.

I’m missing 2 door shelves, the salad boxes, one main shelf in the fridge, and 2 of the 3 freezer drawers are completely busted. The freezer is a particular problem as it’s really full in there and everything keeps falling out when the door is opened. I checked various sites and the total cost to replace all these bits of plastic was over £200! Which then got me thinking, is it really worth it for 6 year old fridge? Or should I just spend a bit more and replace the whole thing, which seems really wasteful.

But knowing my luck, I’d spunk the £200 and then the bloody thing would pack up the next day. Anyone got any suggestions of ways I might be able to replace the broken bits for less than £200?

Buy a new one girl

I bought my American fridge freezer from Very.co.uk - i paid extra for a 4 year insurance plan

In total I spent around 550 - well worth it, i love my fridgefreezer and talked about it non stop when I got it 🙈

Much better to buy a new one than buy new shelves imo x

That’s what I’m leaning towards doing. I wish I could get an American style one but it wouldn’t fit in my kitchen 😞

Factor in the disposal cost of the old one too. Getting rid of fridges is expensive

They make good non American ones too - they're taller now with lots of space x

I got the insurance as it was quite cheap really - or you can buy a samsung/lg and they come with a 5 year warranty - i think it cost about £25 to remove my old one, which was worth it, i think

Buy a new one.

I’d replace the shelves for now.

You will likely get another 5 or more years out of it, and it’s wasteful to chuck a perfectly good item.

It isn’t very - if you buy a new one they’ll take it away for 30 quid or so.

I’m hoping I might be able to give it away - it could still be useful to someone as it works fine. Maybe for a garage, pet food or whatever.
