To consider weight loss jabs?

Im not technically overweight but the heaviest I’ve been. I used to be able to lose weight easily whenever I felt it creeping up but now, at 45 it’s not shifting - I’m just getting heavier.

have seen people on here raving about weight loss jabs - I’m considering it.

Do you have to be approved? I’m 5ft 10in and 11.4 stone. Big bum, hips and boobs.

how much is it? Any side effects?

I got it with just putting my (incorrect!) Weight into a website last year. I was 26 BMI. Dropped 10 lbs in a month, felt a bit sick, but no significant side affects. That was in August and I've only put on 2 lbs since. From my side people are mega dramatic about the risks and side affects. Dieting is absolutely miserable but it was a breeze on mounjaro. Personally I'd order some, take a week and week how you feel.

And this is why the industry as a whole have massively tightened the regulations and rules around prescribing.

You don’t need it but I can see why it feels like the easy option.

I have lost weight without WLI’s but when I started my BMI was very slightly below 30. There are times I wish I had just lied and gone down the same route so many people I know have of WLI’S but I decided to spend the money on a David LLoyd membership instead.

I’m more than a stone and a half lighter with another half a stone to go and I am fitter and stronger so good choice for me. It’s slow progress but I am getting there and the changes in eating habits I’ve made will be long term.

OK, you are annoyed that your friends are losing weight at a different rate to you using a different diet method? Really? You can't see how unreasonable that is?

Seriously?

I havent heard of Shemed but sorry they didnt seem very helpful.

I love the jabs, they were life changing for me and I didnt really have any side effects.

I used MedExpress rather than a subscription service in case they made me feel bad but luckily I was okay. From your post I would recommend others to try one month first rather than one of the subscription ones

Me too. I'm down 4 stone, over a longer time than most but am happy with that.

An allergic reaction can happen at any time with any substance. You were just unlucky.

I've used them to drop a significant amount of weight and am now maintaining at bmi 22/23.

Sounds like you need to do what I am doing. Continue to count calories and if I gain 1 week, I reign it in the following week.

Review what you are eating and be very honest.

Calorie creep is very easy!

My BMI is 30. So I could get the injections but trying to do it myself. Gym every other day, cutting down on carbs and alcohol.

You are still doing it yourself on the jabs. It helps regulate blood sugar and suppresses appetite but you still have to make the right choices and do the right things.

All this easy option stuff is really annoying. Do people think smokers using patches or gum are using the easy option? Or just trying to reduce cravings? <nods>

Snippit · 02/11/2025 11:12

Try intermittent fasting, I’ve lost my menopause weight and it’s been really easy to do it. I’ve lost the stone I put on and feel so much better for it. The first two weeks were difficult, mainly tummy rumbles, but now it’s a doddle. I’m finding I’m eating so much less, the weight came off slowly, I’ve not lost energy and it hasn’t cost me anything, unlike the weight loss jabs.
