To take sunscreen on an EasyJet flight?

Apologies for my ignorance, but I haven’t flown for years.

Are a 200ml sunscreen and a 150ml cleanser likely to be confiscated?

And am I allowed a small handbag as well as my teeny-tiny 36 x 45 x 20cm under-seat case?

Thank you!

I have seen people be charged for an extra bag with a handbag and other walk through so its just luck really

Karatema · 04/05/2025 18:39

It’s absolute luck! I have a small cross body handbag - sometimes I have to stuff it into my cabin bag, sometimes I don’t. I plead ignorance and say I forgot I hadn’t put it in my bag and then do but if I’m not challenged then I don’t.

We’re flying from Gatwick… Does that mean they WON’T be confiscated?

They still need to be under 100ml each but don't need to be taken out your bag. Can you decant into smaller containers?

Harrumphhhh · 04/05/2025 18:50

Buy it at Boots after security.

heffalumpwoozle · 04/05/2025 18:53

Why are you asking mumsnet this? Everywhere is different so you're not going to get correct advice. Just check your booking details, there will be a link to info about security and what you can bring through on your specific flight/ airport.

Lougle · 04/05/2025 19:17

We flew from Gatwick and DH had his deodorant confiscated because it was over 100ml container even though it was less than one third full. Not a problem, he just didn't realise, but they are strict.

We paid the extra for the large cabin bag as well as the small one and found it was plenty.

RedToothBrush · 04/05/2025 19:22

The issue isn't easyJet it's the airport. In both directions.

Some UK airports (and it even differs between terminals at the moment) would be ok on the way out but you also have to think about and check return due to the restrictions at each airport.

We've recently fly and it would have been ok at the terminal we were at (but not others at the same airport) but it was stricter on the return and would not have been ok.

You should stick to 100ml still for this reason - either putting into a smaller bottle or buying after security. It's not a big deal.

It depends what airport you're flying from. If they don't have the new scanners at security then both items will be chucked as they are over the 100ml limit.

And your handbag will need to fit in your case if you haven't paid for any bags and are only taking the under seat item. easyJet are usually very strict on this. And all of this information is available on their website.

Easily solved by having a handbag small enough to stick in your hand luggage.

If your handbag is the size of a large planet you are asking to be charged.

Even with the new scanners the limit on bottle size is 100ml there's no limit on how many and they don't need to be in a plastic bag and you can leave them in your carry on as you go through security

Exactly. I have a small handbag that goes in my luggage I then have a Ryan Air compliant backpack that I take as my flight handbag.

TheShiningHostess · 04/05/2025 19:34

You could buy big bottles of suncream/cleanser once you are through security, but then you wouldn't be able to bring them back if you haven't used it all.

Just decant what you need into 100ml bottles.

I have a handbag which if they say anything I can slip in my hand luggage. I have it on around the airport for convenience.

I rarely fly with more than the most basic allowance of hand luggage.

bizzey · 04/05/2025 19:48

Silly question from me. !

Do all your 100ml items still need to be put in a plastic bag ...inside your carry on case ....or can they be spread out for ease of packaging .?

Going with 3 ds' who might not have as much as me in the range of toiletries and makeup!

Was hoping to spread the load 😂😂!

Iloveshoppingforbooks · 04/05/2025 19:54

Just buy any size you want from Boots past security

Thisisittheapocalypse · 04/05/2025 19:57

Blackcountrychik83 · 04/05/2025 17:27

You can buy suncream from the shops in the airport once you’ve been thru security

This

Easy peasy

MammaRoly · 04/05/2025 20:13

Without wishing to derail the thread, can I ask a question as haven't flown much since having the kids....... I have it in my head you can't put aerosols in a plane hold. Explosive maybe? The only suncream my kids tolerate is spray on aerosol not pump. Will I be okay to put in hold bags?

Aerosols are ok in the hold.

cestlavielife · 04/05/2025 20:59

Just buy at boots after security
Or in resort

CountryQueen · 04/05/2025 21:01

VickyEadieofThigh · 04/05/2025 17:28

The Easyjet website will tell you what luggage you're allowed in accordance with what you've booked. As pp has said, only 100ml maximum containers are allowed into the cabin.

Not true and never has been. You’ve always been allowed to shop after security and take items into the cabin.

Just get it in boots. You can even do a click and collect, just make sure you select the correct airside store

Only buy it “in resort” if you’re feeling flush 🤣 much cheaper to buy here generally

minnienono · 04/05/2025 21:06

@allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld

that was the intention but there was an emergency delay in May 2024 due to security advice. I can assure we were limited to 100ml whatever that old press release says
