Two kids (4 and 1.)

I already have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.

I do love them and everything but by Monday I’m ready to go back to work for a break …

They’ve only been back at school nine days and already a day off. And then half term in a couple of weeks. It’s not very well divided up this year, but as a PP said, we can’t help when Easter falls. What I don’t like is not really appreciating it as we’ve just been off over Easter. I don’t need the day now but would have liked it in a few weeks’ time, or a month when there were none!

Totally!

I am actually shattered from this weekend - can’t believe I have to get through another three days of this!

When my kids were those ages I hated bank holidays too, now they are 10 & 13 and I love them! Lie in’s, cafe for brunch and one less day of the working week

I know I shouldn't tolerate this but they're family 😞 I can't really turn them away. I think I'm the only one who doesn't like this, everyone else seems to love it. No one turns them away.

I think next time I'd have to go 'oh no, I've been throwing up all morning, we all have, don't come near me, I don't want to give it to you! Got to go back to the bathroom' and shut the door. Sounds like a nightmare.

I was hoping for a quiet one but one of my sister's turned up yesterday morning with her 2 kids, dh and suitcases all shouting "surprise", they do this a lot to everyone. They think it's brilliant to just turn up at your door. It was a mad dash trying to hide all the washing and crap and find beds for them. Sent them out today as my head hurts.

Oh wow - that’s so rude! I would absolutely hate that.

May day is only one day?

TheChosenTwo · 05/05/2025 07:33

I used to not really love them when the dc were going, dh would inevitably be working and most of the things we would usually do during school holidays would be closed.
They’re all big now, eldest is at uni, next one has gone to work already and the youngest is going with dh to the football today so I’ve got the day to myself. So I enjoy the bank holidays more now that I don’t have small children!

May day is only one day?

I know but I mentioned in my OP that I don’t work Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Monday at work is usually a bit of a break from the kids!
