Have voted all but two votes:
. 2005 GE as moved address about 20 miles away 3-4 weeks before the poll date
. 2019 EU. What was the bloody point in voting for candidates to sit there for 7 months?

Yes I have cast a vote in every election since 1992.

Sometimes I have had to hold my nose to do so but I think its important.

GarlicPile · 03/05/2025 18:15

Good question! I've missed a handful, local and general. I always feel REALLY guilty if I don't vote, so have now registered for postal/online voting. This way I can't be too tired or too busy.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 03/05/2025 18:15

Nope
Because despite applying for my court ID for the last 2 elections, it has never arrived.

And I genuinely didn't care when I was younger. Probably started voting at 25 ish.

BoredZelda · 03/05/2025 18:19

I didn’t start voting in local elections until I was in my 30s, but voted in every GE, Scottish elections and European ones since I was eligible.

TennesseeStella · 03/05/2025 18:21

Yes I've voted in everything apart from the proportional representation referendum in 2011 (?) as I was living abroad temporarily and couldn't be arsed sorting out a postal/proxy vote.

interestedwhy · 03/05/2025 18:22

I missed a handful when the kids were tiny I think but otherwise always have voted

Ariela · 03/05/2025 18:22

All bar about 3 or 4 when I couldn't get back in time to vote (and the polling station wasn't open when I left for work).

Motherknowsrest · 03/05/2025 18:23

Yes. I'm 50.

Satisfiedkitty · 03/05/2025 18:23

Yes, I'm 53 years old and I've voted in every single election since I turned 18.

yeesh · 03/05/2025 18:23

i Don’t always vote, haven’t voted in local elections for about 20 years. I usually vote in general elections and for the Senedd. Don’t think I ever voted for the European parliament

SellFridges · 03/05/2025 18:24

Yes. But I believe that not voting should be an active decision that you must mark in the voting booth.

BestDIL · 03/05/2025 18:24

Never missed a vote. I go on the theory that if I don’t vote I can’t complain about anything political!

ExemplaryVegetable · 03/05/2025 18:24

Yes - I feel really strongly about it and actively engage with our MP and councillors as much as possible. It’s really important to own your opinion express it with a X - and take the consequences!

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 03/05/2025 18:26

I've always voted. I don't think you've got any grounds to comment on government if you can't be arsed to vote.

My sister lives in Australia where it's mandatory to vote. I'd like to see that introduced here.

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 03/05/2025 18:26

Never missed a single vote.

GildedRage · 03/05/2025 18:27

Yes, from 18 although often swayed by friends and not having researched.
A short period of No, disillusioned “what’s the point”.
Then came a rather influential discussion with a work colleague, lead me to rethink my views and approach. Faithful voter again.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/05/2025 18:28

I have voted in every election since 1973.

So would I.

PickAChew · 03/05/2025 18:29

I spoiled a police commissioner ballot paper because not one of the candidates could be bothered to send us any campaign communication and it wasn't even easy to find anything out about any of them online. I wasn't going to vote blind and said so on my paper.

Meadowfinch · 03/05/2025 18:29

Yes, every election since 1981. It's important.

Spies · 03/05/2025 18:30

Yes the only one which was looking unlikely was on the day I gave birth but we squeaked in on the way back from the hospital.

If you don't vote you have absolutely no right to complain and I like to complain. 😂

Katieweasel · 03/05/2025 18:30

Yes. I feel very privileged to be allowed to vote and very grateful to those who fought for me to have the right. Also you can’t complained about who gets elected if you don’t take part!

feelingbleh · 03/05/2025 18:31

I didn't vote in the recent local election as I'm so annoyed with them all right now that none of them deserve my vote. But normally I vote everytime

AuntyAgony · 03/05/2025 18:31

I have always voted. I'm not eligible to vote in the big ones in the UK because I'm not from here, but I always do the council elections etc, and I vote in all the elections of my home country (even though it means travelling to the polling station). I was brought up to vote.

Fairnair · 03/05/2025 18:31

Think I have not missed voting in a General Election since I have been eligible, and voted in the EU referendum.

Have not always voted in the Mayoral and police commissioner elections.
