Just for fun 🤩

Hello, I am 2, nearly 3. I know I am loved oodles by mummy and daddy because they tell me every five minutes. My parents are both teachers of big children who wear big clothes and shoes, some are grown up size 11 but I don’t know what size the boys are.
In the holidays when the Easter bunny was coming, mummy and daddy spent their time off decorating. I really liked the old wallpaper because it was bright and colourful. The new stuff isn’t to my liking if I’m honest, it’s plain, boring and my granny loves it. That’s how bad it is!
Yesterday morning whist my parents were getting ready for work, I thought I would use my bestest crayons to add some much needed colour to this awful decoration, obviously I did my art in an out of the way place to begin with until I got into my stride then when I felt my artistic juices really start to flow I went for it BIG! Disappointingly as I had stepped back to admire my work Daddy came in, swooped me up and said “time for nursery little princess”
As is usual Granny picked me up from nursery. I love granny, she’s wrinkly, and does odd things like sitting in the chair with her saggy eyes closed and mouth open and making funny noises but not always from her mouth!
Mummy says granny is doo lally tat and get this! Granny has a heart of pure gold so she’s a keeper. Wow, just wow. Anyway fast forward to the afternoon. I had persuaded granny to let me watch Bluey while she made a snack, when mummy comes in and daddy was “not too far behind” We had the usual conversation about what I had done today. I knew that I would have to go through it all again later with Daddy so I put my thumb in my mouth looked a bit weary and continued with the tv. Mummy and granny chatted away, daddy came in and asked what I had done today so I proudly led him to my art. Daddy’s face quite quickly became very poorly and shouty Daddy called Mummy to look. She pushed past granny who was looking a tad concerned. After only 5 seconds tops of admiring my colouring she got her waggy finger out and in a raised voice asked “what’s this!” then called me a “little vandal monster” and started talking non sense about hundreds of pounds down a drain?!
I’m deeply upset at this, especially as it is my best work yet and the hypocrisy of calling me names when “we only use kind words and hands are told me. AIBU?

Nauseating.

Especially the user name 🙄

Pollqueen · 02/05/2025 15:28

Your description of "granny" is pretty offensive. Is she 93? The rest of it is just downright nauseating

BelfastBard · 02/05/2025 15:37

Well this is embarrassing

Wacqui · 02/05/2025 15:41

😬

nocoolnamesleft · 02/05/2025 15:41

The ageism in it is rather unpleasant.

Lolalovesroses · 02/05/2025 15:42

I quite enjoyed it! Why is everyone having a go?

Jackiepumpkinhead · 02/05/2025 15:43

Vomit inducing.

Is someone looking after you? I mean that sincerely.

Lolalovesroses · 02/05/2025 18:56

I know this is a bit off topic, but I’m currently having real issues with a female boss. I’ve been in the same place for over 25 years and always had great management. I’ve struggled for months wondering why she chose me, as I’m very well liked and hardworking. My best mate said “ it’s females, they just have a nasty edge.” I shrugged it off as sexist and told her so, but this thread makes me think is it a female thing, do women just do it for sport, or is it a people thing. It makes me sad to see it on here.

Mumsnet has become much more critical and mean recently. Previously, people would post things like this and they would be celebrated for their cuteness and inventiveness. Today, people post that it's "cringe" and "lame" and "embarrassing."

Good. Quite right too.

It’s equally sexist to expect women to be nice and “kind” and fawn over whatever nonsense is put in front of us…

The German word for this is "fremdschämen', which is wonderful.
