Has taking the flu jab actually made a difference for you?

Hi,

Has taking a flu jab actually made a difference for you?

My immune system is awful and although I do get offered it I’ve not taken it in years. However, I’m starting to wonder if it helps as I’ve had an awful few months with various flu strains - don’t expect it to be a magic cure but is it better than not having it done?

Thanks

I've had the flu jab every year since catching COVID in 2022 and this doing a number on me. I don't want to risk flu on top if I can help it; dealing with COVID is bad enough.

I don't get recognisable colds anymore and haven't had flu since about 2013 but I have had a long running viral infection/sinusitis which I suspect started as COVID again earlier this year. The symptoms aren't as bad as when I originally caught it but they are very long lasting. I just generally feel run down and full of face inflammation, and my fitness/breathing capacity has decreased.

The last few years I had it I noticed I caught colds much less and this winters one I didn't have any colds at all.

I had it and have had the worst cough and cold for years

That happened to me in 1988 and I've never had flu or any bad colds since I stopped having it.

I get a free one from work, I think it has helped yes. I got horribly ill with Covid on the 2nd & 3rd times of having it in quick succession and my immune system was on its knees. I had flu twice in 2 years after that but I’ve had 2 good winters since having the flu jab. Could be a coincidence but I’ll take it.
