Well it's at risk but we know what means. I'm not surprised.
Have passed my probation and contract days 3 months notice (applicable from passed probation)

In that case, that should tie me in.

Anything else to consider?

Thanks!

Sorry your jobbis at risk. Never a nice position.

If I thought I was being made redundant, I would asked sure my CV and LinkedIn were up to date and would be casually catching up with former colleagues working with different employers in the industry.

I would probably also be meeting recruiters to see what's out there and see if there's anyway I could time new job and redundancy package so that it works out best.

Look for a new job as you won't get anything if you've been there less than 2 years

Littletreefrog · 28/04/2025 17:49

You won't get much redundancy pay given you have only just passed probation so I would start looking for a new job now. Especially if there is more than just you up for redundancy as then there will be more competition.

Pretty shitty of the company to take people on then announce redundancies so soon (unless your probation period was very long).

Contract says 3 months on both ends, so I would hope I get at least that

Read the terms and conditions

Mouche85 · 28/04/2025 17:52

Something similar happened to me. Redundancies have been announced 2 weeks after I signed up my contract (I was on short term before that).

I immediately looked for another job and I've applied for voluntary redundancy package, which gave me 2 weeks pay. Not much but I started my job immediately after.

Useful tip, legally you can use "reasonable time" of your work day to look for another job.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 28/04/2025 17:54

You will get 3 months notice as that’s in your contract. But they may ask you to work it. Get the ‘open to work’ banner on your LinkedIn account and start looking.

Sorry to hear that OP. I've been at risk three times, made redundant from two of those scenarios over 12 years.

Get CV lined up, definitely. But, depending on size of the business, is there any other role you could do or teams you could move to? Is there an area you could help with that needs more resource that you could make a case to do?

I tried that last time I was at risk - without luck in the end, but there was a whole part of business support that had been neglected and it could have made perfect sense to parachute me into, but they decided not to go in that direction. It was still worth a try though.

I was in a very large business and I talked to loads of people about what my options were, and came close to getting some alternative roles but nothing was on quite the right level for me in the end. However, some of those roles were a slightly different direction that I had been considering and that is very in demand. I got one such role with another business at the end of my notice and now am on a lot more money and keep being contacted about applying for other roles for the first time in my life.

Hope things work out OK one way or another.

LIZS · 28/04/2025 18:03

They can make you work the notice rather than pilon. So you may not get anything extra.

They're actively recruiting for another role, but it would be a downgrade, so I don't know if I would take it.

As a PP mentioned, I know they have to let me find another job

Reach out to people in your field. Colleagues, managers, sales reps, trainers, consultants. Sign up with specialist job agencies. Work out your budgets. If you can afford it, have a break whilst you regroup, if you feel a rest might help.
