The way they hoik up your boob while still exposing your nipple just weirds me out. I appreciate the function, I just think they're a bit minging. Perhaps that's why they only seem to come in pastel colours with floral sprigs on

I personally think that they're distressingly dissimilar to S&M gear! I was a 32H though, which meant that I had a choice of hm... let me see one nursing bra that came in my size. It didn't do a great job of hoiking either. I'm hoping that there will be more choice this time around.

I think the Nougatine and Amoralia ones are lovely, but I don't feel I can justify the prices when £12 Mothercare jobs do the job just as well! Plus it's the inverted Y holding your boob I find weird, and I'm assuming they all have that (?I've only bought maternity bras so far and just tried on one or two nursing ones - bun still in the oven).

Once and for all, can you wear underwired bras when bfeeding?I thought the wires can block up your milk ducts.
Rainywed, Mothercare's nursing bras haven't got the nipple-peep hole, they just come down and leave the shoulder strap on, IYKWIM. Not so s&m like the other ones!

I thought you could get away with underwires if you're really careful about wearing the right size but if not then it's best not to have wires to be on the safe side. Though I have seen maternity bras somewhere that had a very soft wire in them as a kind of compromise.

Interesting about the Mothercare bras - how do the straps stay on and not ping off over your shoulder and catch someone behind you in the eye then?

No, you shouldn't wear wires when nursing, that includes nursing an older child who only nurses once a day.

I know what you mean, my partner makes use of the front clip often, which feels really weird!

MTM, I'm also an H and I shop at Bravissimo who are introducing a new nursing bra to each new catalogue it seems. I've been in them for 22 months now and I do feel they are supportive and comfortable (although I do miss my wires!)

the non-peephole type just have a bit of elastic that goes from the clip on the strap to the armpit edge of the cup - much less freaky-looking

If you are a mainstream size (ie 34-38 b-d) H*M are good too

i'm sat here wearing an underwired anita nursing bra and thank god for it, i'd be a total fright otherwise. i bought 3 they're so great. i've been wearing them everyday for 6 months and i feed non stop all day and night without any problems

That's not what I was taught on my BFing Peer Supporter course. We were shown how and why it causes a problem. Maybe it's just the NHS view on it, I'm sure others have different opinions.

Also in a wired nursing bra, no problems. With particularly, err, generous norks, I find more trouble with non-wired bras - part of my breast slips down under the material when I slouch sit down and gets trapped there when I stand up (sore). With a well fitting underwire, I have no trouble, but advice I'd heard is to make sure wire is flush against ribcage. Regarding OP, see nothing SM-ish looking at my nursing bras - can you link to an example?

I used to have a nursing bra with zip "flaps" rather than the normal clips. DH used to find it very amusing

I found it rather less so, especially the day I managed to zipper a fair chunk of my areola into it. Ouch!

MamaChris to my eye, the kind of nursing bra set-up that is coyly being revealed here is not that dissimilar to this kind of thing (I've gone for a drawing that should hopefully not offend too many MNers, but perhaps don't encourage the DC to click on it ). Incidentally, I had to turn my safe search off to search for the second image, and subsequently searching for nursing bras suggests I'm not the only person to have made the link!

I'm an H (have come down a bit since I started, although think I'm going back up) and never had a problem with none wired bras. If you were falling out of them they were too big.

The official NHS line is that wired bras are damaging. I'm sure that many other organisations say the same. As with everything you can't make people do anything and if a bra company thinks they can make money by selling a wired bra then they will because there is nothing to stop them.

She hated the helmet at first, hence the stern look, but didn't take long before she was straddling the horse (she was only on a cot mattress in front of Mum's saddle) and holding the reigns! She kept saying "bless you" when the horse snorted, too! I think I enjoyed that day more knowing she had than for myself. She got off at the end with the biggest grin!

DS has been on my friends pony a few times. he loves it!! first time was 14 months lol.

Tink was about the same age, we were on holiday in Majorca. I'd love to get her on a horse again as she really loved it, she loves animals in general IRL or TV!

What are you doing awake at this time, anyway? I've only just got her back off after she decided 11pm was a good time to wake up and play!

I'm not really tired now. I'm supposed to be going to the baby show tomorrow with Mum, but I think I may be too tired - I was on the verge of not going anyway because she rang to tell me my SIL is going with two of my nephews, so instead of it being a me and Mum day it's going to be me following them around being totally ignored.

Mum was on a saddle with a lower front, then there was a cot mattress thrown over the front of it which she sat on. She started side saddle with Mum holding her between her arms, but she turned and was balancing herself quite well by the end.
