to think it is not fair for those who are full time office based to resent those who WFH?

At my work, most people are hybrid but a significant group are office based full time as their job cannot be done from home. This has always caused a few issues but nothing too serious.

Car park fees have now significantly gone up. Obviously this is affecting those who are in the office full time a lot more than those of us who only have go in 1-2 days a week.

It is now creating an unpleasant atmosphere and resentment between those based in the office full time and those who WFH.

I suspect it is more than just the car park fees. Life is much easier generally for most WFH. We can get our chores done, do school runs etc which the office people cannot do. I do understand but it is management who makes the decisions not the individual staff unless they have specific needs.

You're doing nothing to dispel the rumour that 'work from home' people don't pull their weight. 'Do the school run' and 'get daily chores done' in work time...?

And you wonder why many employers want people back at work in the office now?

They're sick of people swinging the lead.

You can claim them as a tax deduction

It is barely anything. I applied during covid. I can't claim anymore.

This is not about employers wanting all staff back in the office. it wouldn't work anyway. They no longer have the space to have everybody back in full time.

It belongs to the business. They want to encourage staff to use public transport.

I can totally understand why they are annoyed! Seems like a rbbish employer

I agree. Different jobs have different conditions which suit different people (some people would hate a job that didn’t allow for any office time for example). I find it a fairly pathetic attitude to think “well I don’t get X so no one should”

🙄 I can do the school run when I wfh, and I’m back in the house by 08:50. I have an extra hour at lunch do get some stuff done round the house, and extra time at the end of the day because I’m not commuting. Doing the school run and a bit of hoovering does not mean doing fewer hours of work.

I understand why they are miffed but it needs to be aimed at the organisation not the staff who WFH.

The WFH staff did not implement this change.

How are they aiming it at you? Surely not in any meaningful way. Senior leadership know that’s nonsense, just makes them look stupid
