British men are very insecure and paranoid about baldness and hair?

I'm a 39yo guy with a buzz cut, i cut it every 2 days with my trimmer, I've had this style since my early 20s when i was in the army

I wouldn't even class myself as "bald".. my hairline has receded a little but i can still grow hair on top if i want. No way near the Captain Picard look. I look better with a buzzcut, the receded grown out look doesn't appeal to me.

To be brutally honest and objective as possible.. i am actually quite good looking in the face, and i'm also tall which goes a long way with appearance and attractiveness i have found.

Some teen lads called me baldy, actually they went beserk one day yelling it and going crazy...

My mate Jim asks me if i ever considered growing out my hair or getting hair transplant surgery. I said nah.. it got mentioned again next month.

When i was with my ex-gf in the pubs and bars i'd sometimes get the "fair play mate you've done ok for a bald guy.." errr ok

Brit blokes are very insecure about hair, the thought of going bald is nightmarish. They live for their fancy fades they pay 17 quid for at the Kurdish Barbers

Is there a question here?

DoYouReally · 22/04/2025 19:02

You may lack hair but you've no shortage of superiority, judgment and confidence!

Congratulations to you Sir!

I’ve always said that men worry about their hair in the same way that women worry about their weight.
A woman who likes you won’t care if you have hair or not, and a man who likes a woman won’t care if she’s overweight.

You know when you can tell from how someone writes that you wouldn’t fancy them?
Am I right fellow women folk?

SauvignonBlonk · 23/04/2025 08:04

@blueleavesgreensky yep. Too arrogant for my liking!

I’m not even sure if I notice these things tbh.

But I notice men bemoaning their lack of hair online. It’s sad really. Got hair? Great! Not got hair? Also great!

Gettingbysomehow · 23/04/2025 08:33

I never even notice if a man is losing hair, not unless he draws attention to it by having a massive Trump comb over. If it's tidy it's fine.

What’s your question?

Not British, but I always think it must be hard to lose your hair, especially if it happens young, especially when there’s no cultural place for you to be sad about it. I know my brother was pretty depressed about it happening on his 20s, partly because he was doing OLD.

DH (very thick head of hair at 52) was recently changing flights in Istanbul and said about half his London-bound flight was me returning from hair transplants. I’m not surprised. I’d probably do it too.
