to worry that I am in early, early periomenopause

I'm 35. Period is over 2 weeks late, had a bit of PMS and then felt 'normal'. No change of pregnancy. Last few days had period pains and related symptoms but no period! I had similar twice last year - ended up with a 62 day cycle twice in a row and periods were horrendous. Wondering if I am in very early stages of perimenopause. Anyone with any experience of this? Thanks.

Hi OP , peri is definitely a possibility, I started at 34 but didn’t recognise the symptoms at the time . I started with lighter periods, then had period symptoms but no period …intense itching all over my body , severe burning pain in genitals. My doctor didn’t recognise the symptoms either …..he did a liver function test ! I got married at 35 babies at 37 and 41 no IVF was very fortunate. HRT at 41 . First baby took 3 months to conceive last baby 9 months. Was told I had negligible oestrogen before baby two was conceived . My grandmother was post menopausal at 39 but she’d had 13 children at that point. Apologies for the rant I couldn’t read and run and slightly squiffy after a few ports cooking Easter (very late lunch !!!) ❤️

A friend just got diagnosed as starting menopause stage at 34. It does happen

It’s possible, peri can start at 35. However, underlying health issues (thyroid problems for example) can cause periods to go haywire so it would be worth a discussion with the GP.

I have no itching... only random symptoms I've had recently have been sore feet and a bad taste in my mouth... could be totally unrelated! Thanks for your post and I hope you enjoyed your lunch x @Starbri8

thanks for messaging. Yes it somehow feels too young (I still feel very young!) but I guess it isn't in terms of women's health. @Darkambergingerlily

@RealityContinuesToRuinMyLife thanks. I actually had lots of tests, including thyroid/ transvaginal ultrasound /full blood test/ smear last year when I had two very long cycles and heavy periods. Found nothing apart from slightly low iron, which was expected. But may be worth going again though.
