To go and kidnap the neighbours dog and drop it off in a faraway location

It's Easter Sunday. Nice weather. We are all outside playing and all I can hear is yap yap yap yap. We are in a quiet village, there is no other sound apart from birds. How can they not realise that the flipping yapping is annoying to all around. I'm in the kitchen and I can still hear it & their house isn't even visible from ours.

Well the dog isn’t actually the issue so it may be better to kidnap the neighbours and drop them in a far location…. Take the dog too of course if you don’t like dogs.

murasaki · 20/04/2025 14:03

Wasn't there an awful male poster called Andrew something who actually did this?

Anyonefoundmysparesock · 20/04/2025 14:04

The owners of the dog are the issue here, poor dog having to yap at his useless lot. Are you in a position to relocate the neighbors?

Seriously though, that would wind me up too

TokyoKyoto · 20/04/2025 14:05

This is an episode of Seinfeld 😁

Birdseyetrifle · 20/04/2025 14:06

I feel your pain. We have that too. Hours of yapping and yapping. The owners don’t care and just say it’s what small dogs do.

I love dogs. I've got a cocker and a labrador. They went out for 1.5 hours walk this morning so are happily pottering around the garden not barking.

You are of course all correct that it's the owners fault, not the dog. It just seemed easier to kidnap a daschund than two adult humans.

Report them to the RSPCA ? Poor dog must be exhausted.

I wasn’t suggesting you didn’t like dogs… but obvs if you kidnapped the owners you’d either have to send their dog with them or still listen to it bark. If you like dogs then great! Bonus doggy for you, win win

Do you have dogs ? Mine would happily yap away outdoors all day long if I left it out - instead he tends to yap at blades of grass daring to move outside the front window or anything he sees fit

CreationNat1on · 20/04/2025 14:24

Could you bring the dog along on your walk?

AhBiscuits · 20/04/2025 14:25

Yapping can drive you absolutely insane. I consider myself an animal lover but could have cheerfully drop kicked the neighbours' westie off a bridge. Thankfully they don't have it anymore.

CillaDog · 20/04/2025 14:26

@CoastalCalmwas going to say the same thing. Anytime someone walks down the footpath near ours, or there is a bird or squirrel, my lot bark at everything. They’re very happy dogs who sleep most the time, but when they’re in the garden nothing is bark free 🤣

Ahsheeit · 20/04/2025 14:27

I have had similar and gone outside and shouted to shit the bloody dog up so the rest of the neighbourhood could enjoy the sunshine. Took a couple of times, but it worked 😉

ohtowinthelottery · 20/04/2025 14:27

The owners have probably gone out too - so they can't even hear it.
We've got neighbours who leave the dog in the garden with the conservatory door open (presumably with interior doors locked) and they go out. Although their dog doesn't thankfully bark all the time - only when one of the other neighbours let their dogs into their own gardens.

Oh I see! No I have cats! They don’t miaow much, either! Just loud purring, but it doesn’t disturb the neighbours!

ICantBeDoingWithThat · 20/04/2025 14:30

There's a couple of those live around the corner from us, aka "the barky sausages". They start barking at my dog from about 200 yds away, he can't figure out their problem. 🐕🤔

RunningJo · 20/04/2025 14:33

Annoying isn’t it! How can they not be bothered by it!?
I have dogs, and never let them continuously bark - would drive me mad, and most likely the neighbours too.
One of our neighbours has a barky dog, I’ve yelled at it to shut up a few times.

I vote to kidnap the dog, but give him a home instead, probably be less of a knob if he has a good owner 🤣

Would hate to hear what you’d do if you didn’t consider yourself an animal lover, Jesus…what a horrible comment

Bongani · 20/04/2025 14:52

I get that the constant barking is frustrating, especially when you're trying to enjoy a quiet day. But taking the dog and dropping it off somewhere wouldn't be a reasonable or legal solution. It's better to speak with the neighbors and let them know how much the noise is affecting you. They might not even realize that it's affecting you. A calm conversation could help things improve for everyone.

It’s the breed - they’re bred to bark loudly to alert their owners of anything (incredibly useful when they’re underground in a badger set, less so when they’re on a leisurely walk around the village).

MissyB1 · 20/04/2025 14:54

Or pop round and explain to neighbours that you are struggling with the barking? Have you tried that?

Rowgtfc72 · 20/04/2025 14:55

I was waiting for someone to mention sausage dogs- they are the barkiest bastards going.
We've almost managed to contain ours to people coming down the drive, and the Amazon man who he has absolute hatred for.
If the dogs yapping constantly it's either home alone or locked in the garden.
Feel free to take the owners far away and rescue the doggo from them.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

RSPCA for yapping🤣🤣🤣🤣

sweet summer child, they will not be in the least bit interested.

@Catterpillarsflipflops is this a regular thing or is it a bit of a one off today?

My only suggestion is dog warden or local council, but probably won't get any luck with either until Tuesday.

Do you fancy adopting a dachshund, maybe?
Your 2 might keep it quiet

JohnofWessex · 20/04/2025 14:58

Dog warden or the Council noise team are your friends

theemmadilemma · 20/04/2025 14:58

I thought they were a cute breed until I heard about the notorious barking.

I want my dogs to alert to loud, unusual noises, even in the garden. They’ll ignore the farmer shooting in the field, but not someone making a loud crashing noise from their garden for example.
