My DH plays cricket as a hobby and everything is at the beck and call of the game now the season started. Aibu to think that it's rubbish he spends one full day of the weekend playing plus training one to two evenings during the week??! We've got a 5 year old and I'd like there to be more family time

5 year old is also old enough to start All Stars. Get your husband coaching as well as playing. Then he can coach his own child/ren and you get time to yourself, even more so once the kids start playing matches.

Start playing too? I play women's softball as I am no longer brave enough to play hardball. I am rubbish , but I love it and I am the only one of my family of cricket enthusiasts to have scored a hat trick.

It's a great sport if you embrace it.

YABU. Your DH is entitled to have a hobby, as are you.

Cricket is a wonderful game. It encourages fair play, respect for the opponent, respect for the ‘spirit of the game’ & respect for the umpire’s decision. Cricket brings together people from disparate cultures in a way few other sports do, and it has a strong social element with none of the nasty stuff sometimes associated with football. Your 5 year old is very lucky to have a dad who will encourage them to play cricket.

Why not get an equally good hobby yourself instead of moaning about his?

YANBU. My sister’s husband plays cricket so they have turned into a “cricket family” and it is dreadfully twee. He’s cancelled holidays in the past if he wanted to play in a match. It’s awful.
