Parking - would you talk to neighbour or live with it?

Currently put up with it for a few months but we’ve just had the driveway redone and I think it’s made it even harder to get off the drive due to two parked cars on the road.

No parking restrictions. Cul de sac. Not new housing so plenty of parking but house opposite is rented and has four people - three cars. House next door has the son’s girlfriend who stays every weekend. These cars are only ever there Friday night/Saturday/Sunday/Monday morning.

I’m the pink car and reversing off the driveway and heading towards the adjoining road is impossible. I can pull out and go up the road and turn around at the end and come back. Can’t reverse into the space as there’s not the turning room.

Would you go talk to the house opposite and see if they would park further up the road which wouldn’t be directly outside their house or would you leave it and hope they’re on a short term rent?

Isn’t this just part of living on a busy road with other people who also drive? It would honestly never occur to me to complain about something like this.

It’s not a busy road. It’s a pretty quiet cul de sac. There aren’t the only people who park on the road ever but they are the only ones who park on the road directly behind a driveway.

Then why not do that? If it's it a faster option than your additional one minute detour each morning.

It’s not a faster option and I think it’s beset with more issues than continuing up the road and turning in an area where’s there’s more room and visibility.

Maybe they don’t realise it’s causing OP an issue because they haven’t said anything yet

I think that’s true. I made the mistake of saying nothing and now I’m cross and resentful whereas I fully expect the man has no idea he is pissing me off.

He could park two or three metres further up, still be outside his house and allow me to pull out easily but he doesn’t.

Save your complaints for when it matters. A legal inconvenience just isn't worth the time or the bother that it will potentially cause

I don’t have the turning circle to be able to overshoot my drive and then reverse in if that what everyone thinks is the solution as the proximity of the parked car won’t allow me to turn the car in that area and we now have lights running up that side of the driveway which I can’t run over 🤦🏻‍♀️

Edited

If it’s a detour of a minute and your own driveway design is impacting your other options, I’d live with it.

So you stick with your one minute detour then. It's really not worth getting annoyed over, particularly as it's your own changes to the driveway that have made things harder for you.

But it's still just one of (many) minor issues that come about when you live around other people. Sometimes I have to turn round in weird places on our road because of the bin wagon, or because of someone's work van, or whatever - it's just one of those things?
