When did seven o clock stop being bedtime?

My four year old has not napped in the day for a looooong time. Even long car journeys don’t send him to sleep any more.

But … he doesn’t go to sleep before eight o’clock, often pushing half eight. It feels really late and selfishly doesn’t give me much time to myself!

Is it just us?

Mine would go to bed and read or draw/colour/do quiet stuff until they were ready to sleep.

We did in bed at 7, asleep from 7:30 until DD was 6. She was tired and we need down time too. Now she’s 7.5 she has to be in bed at 8 and can play with teddies in bed or read if she wants to but always puts herself to sleep by 9, generally earlier.

7 is a totally normal bedtime for loads of kids, doesn’t suit others. Find what works for you, ignore the rest.

Is he starting school this September? I found starting school absolutely exhausted my dc...even though they were used to nursery, school is just extremely tiring. I'd imagine then bedtimes might become earlier

Hope so!
