What to do in this situation?

I had surgery in November last year that diagnosed me with endometriosis and adenomyosis. I had 2-3 months of instant relief - hardly any period pain and no flooding or leaking.

However, ever since then, the pain side of things has been worse than ever before - even before my surgery. Last month, I was nearly vomiting and passing out from the pain and this went on for roughly 3 days, it was absolutely agonising.

I can’t take ibuprofen due to stomach issues, I can’t take codeine or anything like that because it interacts with medication I already take for something else. I can only take 1 paracetamol at a time because I weigh under 50kg. The only other option I had was to burn my skin with a hot water bottle just to take the edge off.

My follow up appointment isn’t for another 2 months, and they can’t expedite this unless it’s suspected cancer apparently because they are so under pressure, my GP has already written to them and asked.

I am due to properly start my period tomorrow and I already feel unwell, I’m absolutely petrified that I’m going to spend days in agony again. I know there’s an emergency gynaecology unit open now at our local hospital but I don’t know if they would even see me or if that’s appropriate.

What can I honestly do in this situation apart from sitting at home nearly passing out for 3 days straight?

Go and get checked out! The pain could be due to your symptoms worsening, but if you've had surgery, the pain could be because of a foreign object introduced during the surgery or poor healing or infection.

It might be worth going to A&E to seek pain relief.

You can take 2 paracetomol, but only 3 doses in a day, rather than 4.

I can't take NSAIDs or opiates either, and have permanent scarring on my stomach from hot water bottle use. Doctors are always quite interested when they see the marks for the first time and I've had countless Jr Docs called over to have a gander too, which is always incredibly welcome when I'm writhing in agony...

Have you tried a TENS machine? I find it can occasionally be a big help, other days it feels pointless, but worth a try if you've exhausted all other avenues. Failing that, I would hound your GP and tell them you're passing out and vomiting from the pain and see if there's anything at all they can do. I'm sorry, it's really shit.
