I have had this growth on my forehead for a few years now. Don't know what it is, it's very slowly got bigger and more bumpy - like a skin coloured mole or wart, flattish to the skin. Others have now started noticing it and asking me what I've done to my head, and I'd like to remove it.

But I've no idea what it is, and whether removing it would just leave an equally ugly big scar? But I think I'd prefer that to an ugly wart thing! So I guess a few questions...

Anyone know what it is?
Should I still remove it even if I risk a scar?

And who do I even approach? (GP has seen it a couple of years ago, didn't know what it is but wasn't concerned. Suggested I have it removed privately)
A private dermatologist? A pharmacist? A skin clinic? Aesthetics clinic?

I really value advice I find on here so I'd be very grateful for any suggestions, or be told I'm unreasonable and should embrace nature 😂 photo attached!

I've done the cotton tied round method on a few within easy reach one's with success, they fell off..

I'll look for a plasma pen...any recommendations for a tried and tested one please?

Mines the Voneen Plasma Pen from Amazon. I can't link to it for some reason but it's the 19.99 one (it was £35 when I bought it)

It looks like a vibe with a pointy thing that shoots a tiny lightening bolt.

Don't get them mixed up 😬

Re: safe at home I've used mine for about 3 years and never had any issues, just need to make sure everything's cleaned etc. and new tips are used.

A dermatologist friend recommended I get one when I'd been moaning about my cherry angiomas and I was getting fed up of the hassle of using the pin head/lighter technique.

I zap nearly everything with it now 😂 zit? No problem ill just plasma the yellow head instead of squeezing it. Mmmmmmm 🤣

I really want to know now if the pin head/lighter thing is what I’m imagining.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 15/04/2025 20:41

Our GP just burns them off.

NHS won't treat warts because they "go by themselves" my son has a fillious wart under his nose GP sent us to dermatology they said they wouldn't treat it because it was on his face and told me to use OTC remedies which all say don't use on the face meanwhile he has something that looks like a barnacle on his face that no-one will treat

He also has around fifteen verrucas on his feet that no-one will treat and are very resistant for ten years

My son had verruccas all over his feet for years, nothing worked, even tried needling. I eventually got him what looked like a cheese grater for his feet to use on his feet after using the saylic acid. He got a bit vigorous with it and made them bleed and they literally fell off within 2 weeks. It's was so odd, as if the bleeding stimulated his immune system.

{mention:Foreheadthing}i@Foreheadthingi had a nurse cut loads of odd moles off my face 15 years ago. She was taking one off my back in the GP surgery and said she would do them but she want meant to do faces.i had to sign a disclaimer, you can hardly see where she did them, they are just slightly lighter skin. I'd definitely get that checked though.

Our GP's don't do this any more, that and ear syringing, have to have them done elsewhere.

This sounds amazing. I'm definitely getting one.
