Any heart people around? Prolonged QTc?

Hey!

I’m not expecting any specific results or answers as obviously this isn’t medical advice but just wondered if anyone could offer any heart related advice or knowledge

does anyone know anything about long QTc intervals? Specifically during tachycardia and exercise?

basically I have an unrelated separate rhythm issue, I’ve had several bad experiences with NHS cardiology and have had to go private. It’s too long a story to get into but it’s been all round not a great experience and I’ve lost trust in them. I’ve got an appointment soon to go private so hoping it goes a bit better. The appointment is for my other issue but I’m planning on asking about this too

I’ve had a few hospital stays where it was picked up that I had a long QTc interval but usually only when tachycardic. I was told it was unusual because usually it gets shorter whereas mine would get longer. I was always told it was interesting but nothing ever really happened of it.

However I have a Kardia device for monitoring things in between appointments and I managed to get a few readings when tachycardic (sometimes with exercise, sometimes without) and I found that anytime I exercise i would get readings with long QTc interval and it would get picked up by the technician interpreting the Kardia

I read back on some of my NHS notes from my inpatient stays for my other issue and it was noted several times on different occasions that I had a long QTc, ranging between 480 up to 600. It was usually bad when having tachycardia episodes or just after an episode. It was documented that I couldn’t get certain medications because of my QTc and a few times I was given magnesium for it (I didn’t realise at the time it was for it)

im not on any medications that cause long QT, and I don’t have it all the time it’s just when exercising or when tachycardic for other reasons. It was mentioned to me once that it should be investigated but then nothing ever happened of it (not sure if that’s because nothing needed to happen about it, or if nothing happened with it because it was ignored- like my other issue was initially)

I’ll mention it to the cardiologist when I see them, but just a long shot on here in the meantime if anyone knows anything about it? I’ve had a few episodes of being incredibly unwell during/immediately after exercising no matter how much stamina training I do- might be completely unrelated but just in case it’s relevant.

thank you in advance!

long QT is heredity. My mum, myself and my daughter have it. All I know is the rhythm between Q & T is prolonged.

you shouldn’t do exercise that involves bursts of activity, best doing more gently sport. Also swimming can be a problem as you shouldn’t immerse your face in the water.
