Anyone else’s husband turn into a complete **** when drinking?

DH stumbled through the door about 30 minutes ago. He took a half day to go drinking with some of his colleagues - he’s sunburnt, pissed and using vile language.

Apparently, there was ‘tits and arse’ everywhere and he now remembers why he used to love going to the beer garden on a sunny day so much before we met, as there’s barely any clothing in sight! Apparently I have nothing to worry about, as he looked but didn’t touch 🙄

I have sent him upstairs and told him to stay out of my sight. We have a young DC who I’ve been at my wits end with all day and he had promised me he’d come home in a fit state to help with dinner/bed time etc.

Please tell me I’m not alone in have a selfish prat of a husband!!

No because I wouldn’t marry someone like that… but each to their own

No, because I wouldn’t marry a sexist abusive prick.

You can do better, OP.

Pamspeople · 11/04/2025 19:58

Nope. Wouldn't go near a bloke like that.

GoodEnoughParents · 11/04/2025 19:59

It isn’t what you want to hear OP but I’d not go near a man who spoke like that. However, you aren’t alone in this as sadly, many women do have men who behave that way.

DearBee · 11/04/2025 20:01

I once had one like this. He's an ex for this reason, basically.

CountryTunes · 11/04/2025 20:01

The UK has a drinking culture where irresponsible drinking is normalised. My stbxh did the same, there were so many arguments when he came home drunk....i left in the end

Yatzydog · 11/04/2025 20:03

It is the OP's fault her husband is unpleasant when drunk? It is the OP's fault that she married someone who is unpleasant when drunk and so now she can't complain?

Posters on here are horrible and judgemental.

TheRealMcKenna · 11/04/2025 20:05

Sorry, he sounds like an absolute arse.

A bit harsh, my husband is a cunt when drunk

TomatoSandwiches · 11/04/2025 20:07

My husband isn't much of a drinker, maybe a guiness if Newcastle are playing on a Saturday.
I grew up around drunks, it's not fun for children.

DustyMaiden · 11/04/2025 20:10

My DH is a soppy drunk. I do think it’s a truth drug.

Sometimes it is as we let our guard down and sometimes people talk some right shit after drinking, I’ve done both.
Your husband is awful OP, what a sleazy grim arsehole.

choccytime · 11/04/2025 20:16

Feel so sorry for you OP" tits and arse ", the biggest arse there was him

Thepeopleversuswork · 11/04/2025 20:17

No, because I was married to a drunk (admittedly not one as bad as this) and I ejected him.

Hes an abusive cunt and I recommend you do the same. Your children will thank you.

Brigitte33 · 11/04/2025 20:18

Doesn't really matter if he's drunk or not, to speak to his own wife in such a sexist way about other women's bodies shows everything about his genuine underlying attitude towards women.
I find it difficult to believe he's a charmer when sober.
He needs to stop drinking and if he won't you need to work hard to shield your children from his behaviour I'm afraid.

No and no one is saying that. People are simply pointing out that it’s not normal and she should leave.

CharSiu · 11/04/2025 20:19

We are not big drinkers but if DH gets a bit drunk he gets very smiley and then falls asleep.

That's cute

MarxistMags · 11/04/2025 20:19

They all are now and again 🙄

Flutterbyby · 11/04/2025 20:20

My DP doesn't drink very much but the odd time he has too much he's adorable. He likes to tell me howy h he loves me and tries to wake the children up to hug them 😄

Fucking hell. Harsh

bettydavieseyes · 11/04/2025 20:23

Absolutely vile. Was he trying to make you jealous? That's so disrespectful to you and them. Why would he be looking at other women when he has you? The way he talks is disgusting.

MarxistMags · 11/04/2025 20:23

The answer to every question seems to be to leave.
Or you leave. What about trying communication ?
And trying to work things out ?
Unless of course DV.

PiastriThePastry · 11/04/2025 20:24

Oh dear. I am so sorry your husband is so gross op, that’s really repulsive behaviour. I suppose we have two scenarios here; either he’s being honest due to the alcohol and he’s a secret disgusting misogynist or he’s acting entirely out of character and would never dream of being so gross in his ‘real’ life. If the former, he’s a lost cause but if the latter, he’s also a lost cause if he doesn’t cop to it and quit drinking. One occasion like that is one too many.
