Hi all
my 2 year old has been toe walking on and off for over a year now . No issues with speech , she can have spontaneous conversations with us and plays appropriately with her peers back and forth . No sensory issues related to food , texture , sleep , noise or fabric . She is very chill and responds really well to instructions and commands . But my god , she toe walks pretty much all the time and I have recently noticed that she does it outside with her shoes on as well ( she didn’t use to ) . Been seen by the GP who said it can been related to joint hypermobility . She can sit and read a book with us and sit for a while for meals .
any other parents with this issue ?

My middle one toe walked forever. At 2 we were advised by a passing doctor at the swimming pool that we should see our GP. At 4/5 we were advised by a paediatric physiotherapist that it was habitual and nothing to worry about. At 7 we were told (separately) by a sports coach and a physio who passed us in the street that it was serious and why hadn't we done anything... We were seen at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and told that the Achilles tendon had shortened and he was given exercises, splints, offered an operation...

He still does it now (at 22) when agitated.

Don't worry about what it might be related to. In its own right it's a normal developmental stage but can become habitual and then be intractable. See if you can break the habit with gentle reminders and keep an eye, asking for a physio referral. We were told - when he was 2 - that orthotics would solve it. Given the grief it led to later, I'd have gone for orthotics then over the stuff that came later.
