… to cancel my hairdresser appointment?

I booked my next hair appointment (C&BD) 4 1/2 weeks ago at the last appointment. It is a short to mid length bob and grows so quickly that I felt that would be the right time. It seems very difficult to get an appointment unless I book the next one at the end of the previous appointment.
Cut to today, two days before the appointment, and I realise that my hair just doesn’t need cutting and could probably go another two weeks. Is it too late to reschedule the appointment? It might be too late for my hairdresser to fill the slot and I don’t want her to lose business. But there’s really nothing that needs doing to my hair at this stage.
In my defence, I have been through major eye surgery since the last appointment and have been very preoccupied. Hence the penny has only just dropped that my appointment is due the day after tomorrow.

I don’t see in which world anyone could think you unreasonable.

What’s the cancelation notice? Mine 48hrs but If it’s before then yes you can cancel I would make up another excuse though as realising two days before that your hair doesn’t need cutting when you booked the appointment weeks ago does sound a bit silly to me.

I'd go and have a quick trim. Your stylist may be able to fill that gap if not she/he could be losing 30% or more in commission for that appointment which means it will directly affect thier wages. If there was more time and it was during the holidays where many are away, then I'd say you could probably cancel. But given it is the holidays and now less than 48rs notice. I'd suck it up and attend, rebook for 6/7 weeks and move forward if needed instead.

What are her t and cs regarding cancellation? You might find you have to pay

If it's more than 24 hours I wouldn't think twice about cancelling a cut and blow dry.

Thank you for your thoughts, everyone. My hairdresser contacted me today to see if she could persuade me to take one of the two earlier cancellation slots she’s already got for the day of my appointment so I dare not cancel!

She probably only wants to move you to an earlier appointment so she can have the rest of the day off so might not mind if you cancelled as well
