Would rather be at home with my cats than in this wanky hotel with my DP. Hate these over-priced places. Just finished a 6 course meal with paired wines. €110 each. Couldn’t finish, we were too full.

Sat across from my partner basically sat in silence or some inane chat about whether he should ‘expand’ the suitcase for the way home. I’m F38, he’s M54. He’s obsessed with “treating himself” and “having the best”. We’ve been together 5 years. Both from working class families but now he’s on 400K salary just acts like an entitled prick. He can switch from normal down to earth guy to a wanker in short space of time.
We have been frosty for 24 hours after some ridiculous argument. Just want to go home!

Then leave him. He is 16 years older than you and has different interests/tastes. I'm sure he'll find someone who will enjoy his life with him, as will you.

The Tuscan beef was 🔥 there! Pretty reasonable pricing structure for Rome too and they gave us a bottle of their olive oil to take home.

My DH is a treat yourselfer’, I found I had to give permission to allow myself to enjoy luxurious experiences. Luckily I’m ok with it all now, I still like value for money and hate to ripped off but for example I don’t mind paying out for business class flights. If my DH does ever go a bit wankery I tell him to stop being a dick.
If this life isn’t for you then leave now, I’m sure you’ll both find people you are more suited to.

@OohRains I had the Roman menu. I don’t feel I missed out, tasty as the beef sounds. We got given pasta to take home. It was an excellent find for the one fancy meal of our trip.
