Body camera recommendations

Please could anybody recommend a good body camera for wearing while working on a garden where the neighbours complain that water from watering the plants doesn’t flow upwards and wets their driveway. I kid you not. The police have been involved and I have another thread about that. The neighbour has already been out watching me this week while I was weeding, very exciting viewing I’m sure, and yesterday was gesticulating and doing “you’re thick” gestures at me. I couldn’t hear what she was saying because I had big, can’t miss them headphones on listening to music but from her face she was very angry. I didn’t say a word. I’m due to do work at the house this weekend (I work for a relative) and no doubt she will be out going ballistic at me because gravity disobeys her, and I want a body camera to act as a deterrent and also to record the ludicrous things she says to me. The police have warned her and told me I’m doing nothing wrong and can’t control gravity but she persists. So, any recommendations please?

I don't know anything about body mounted cameras, but I know that cyclists, motor cyclists and horse riders wear helmet-mounted cameras - would something like that work?

steff13 · 09/04/2025 18:31

Wouldn't something like a GoPro work?

It needs to be something that picks up her rantings very well so I’m not sure a helmet camera would pick up that. A go pro might though. Thank you.

CCTV on the wall aimed at their garden?

freaknextdoor · 10/04/2025 07:51

There’s a ring doorbell but it stops recording after a while so it misses the full event. The neighbour also has a ring doorbell that she installed a week after I got one put up so it should be recording her rants. We now have local police housed in the park so I might pop in and see them later.

Depends how much you want to spend.

Friend who is a personal protection security guard has a Pinnacle brand one. If you google 'professional body cameras' lots of options come up.

So you are gardening and watering the plants at the front which is also making their drive wet?

They are clearly crazy to care but can’t you just use a watering can and not as much water?

Danikm151 · 10/04/2025 08:46

How does she cope when it rains? Driveway will get wet then

freaknextdoor · 10/04/2025 09:12

She goes ballistic if it’s a watering can or hose. The plants in the border need very little water so it’s about the equivalent of a mug of water that trickles down. If there’s any leaves on her drive she’s out sweeping it. I really don’t know how she copes with the rain that washes lots of water down. The houses are on a hill so water naturally flows down onto their drive. She poisoned the plants last summer. I got to work and there was water on her drive where it trickles down but in line of each plant. There’s only me that waters them and it hasn’t rained. Thankfully they recovered but they had definitely been watered with some kind of toxic liquid. That’s when the camera went up. Her husband complains that watering the plants causes the fence paint to wash off. He was painting it the other day with regular wall paint so I’m not surprised. He told me not to be stupid when I asked last year if it was waterproof paint. I’m also stupid for believing that gravity is a force that pulls things down and that it’s impossible to make water go up and stay up. Batshit.
Shes complained about my relative having a Christmas tree that dropped some needles on its way to the recycling bin and told her not to have one again.

Edited

If you know she has an issue with water why are you jetwashing things? It feels a bit…..unnecessary?

Seriously? My relative is disabled and the drive gets very slimy so needs jet washing to clean it. It’s a long drive and gets done twice a year. She has an issue with me watering the garden too. And weeding. She watches me whenever I’m outside. Her husband is allowed to jet washing their drive though. This is part of my job and I should be able to do it without harassment from neighbours. Another relative is visiting today and is going round to speak with them. The police have told them I’m doing nothing wrong and to leave me alone but they persist. If my relative had a professional do it, which she has said about doing, then she wouldn’t dare spray them with a hose or called them stupid or selfish and say there was something wrong with them. They are nothing but controlling bullies.

I tried out the Insta360 X5 camera test recently and was surprised how clear the audio and video were even in low light. It’s quite small so doesn’t feel bulky to wear, and the battery lasted through a full day without fuss. The stabilisation is decent too, which helps if you're walking or moving around a lot. I found clipping it to a sling bag cross-body worked best for staying hands-free.
