Has anyone had anything similar?
Been to the Dr's 4 times, been told it's eczema then another time dribble rash, so I'm still not sure. Tried fungal, steroids nothing touches it. It goes up and down, I thought was food related but the Dr doesn't seem to think so. Last i went I was told just to use moisturiser on it, I have used so many. Nothing works. This picture is at its worse. Everything makes it red except la posey but you can only apply that twice a day. Sudocream makes redness go down but told not to use it by the Dr as it dries it out. I just don't know what to do. Even tried pharmacy to be told to take her to the Dr's. I take her back and I'm told it's nothing and he literally didn't give me any new cream to try. So I'm now at a loss. Anyone had the exact same rash and anything that actually worked? It has like little spots too round the mouth. Please only comment if you've had anything that's worked.

I’d look at food again. One of my children gets like this from tomatoes including tomatoe based sauce. I’ve known other kids who get it from strawberries or pineapple. Not full blown allergy no other symptoms just a dibble rash looking face

Sprattocatchamackerel · 08/04/2025 22:16

Mine had a similar rash which is caused from being snotty and DD contantly wiping/licking her face. We Sudocrem before bed and Vaseline a number of times throughout the day which works but involves wrestling an angry two year old to the ground several times a day so it has its drawbacks.

Aqueous should only be used as a soap substitute, not an emollient.

springhassprun · 08/04/2025 22:19

Have you tried yellow metanium? My daughter had a rash like this for ages when she was 2.5, I think it started after a virus. I couldn’t tell you what eventually worked but it disappeared and never came back. I find moisturisers very unhelpful for this level of soreness (my other daughter has eczema and most moisturisers just make her skin worse).

Nelsons Calendula Cream was a lifesaver for my Ds when he had a similar rash that was very persistent despite a number of different treatments.

FrazzledHippy · 08/04/2025 22:25

My daughter gets eczema like this on the backs of her knees in summer, when it gets to this stage, I often mix porridge oats with water and plaster it on the back of her knees for half an hour and it helps, don't ask me how exactly, my step mum recommended me to try it and after a couple of days, it had really reduced. I don't know how easy it would be to do on the face though! Also, tumeric in the bath helps with inflamed skin. However, don't do what I did first time and turn your DC into some kind of imitation Simpsons character by putting too much in!

This is her on a good day. Still not great. Annoyingly the last time we got her to the Dr's she was having a good day so he didn't take us that seriously and she had her hand in her mouth so he automatically was like yep dribble rash.

We had this and it was food allergies. Egg and red pepper seemed to be main causes

ButterCrackers · 08/04/2025 22:52

It makes me think of cold weather and dribble that caused redness. I can’t remember the name of the cream. It was like a barrier cream but not stinging. Not sure if it was the lansinoh cream. A pharmacy should have some creams and perhaps some small samples to try.

Sevenandahalf · 08/04/2025 22:54

Have you tried daktarin?
Maybe piriton too if you think it might be allergy related ?

Bingbangboo · 08/04/2025 22:59

That looks so sore, bless her.
My daughter had months of rash at the sides of her mouth, not as bad as your daughter's but still noticeable. We were told viral, dribble rash, eczema, try barrier cream etc.
We went to a nutritionist who advised us it looked like CMPA, cut out dairy and soya and it went. She's 10 now and still gets a rash around her mouth if she over does dairy.

Antihistamine62 · 08/04/2025 23:03

My kids had this (more like the second pic) and I got prescribed hydromol ointment for them. With perseverance and putting it on regularly throughout the day it has cleared. I still use it if they are snotty or extra slabby as I see spots returning but it’s not been as bad since I started with it x

Genevieve99 · 08/04/2025 23:27

Try one of the creams by Zoe Bee Beauty, I’ve been using them for years and they’ve really helped clear up any skin ailments/rashes my children have had

LilacPony · 08/04/2025 23:35

One of mine had similar and I applied Kokoso baby stick all the time to protect their skin and it eventually passed. One of my others also had similar and it was egg allergy related.
Separately, the 8 hour ‘skin protectant’ specifically I personally find very good and very healing. It absolutely saved my hands from all the hand washing in lockdown and was worth the cost.

Thanks. It's definitely not egg as she hasn't had that for about a week but thanks for the recommendation

DS who is 15 now had exactly this for a good few months around 12 months old. We too tried everything - anti fungal creams antibiotic creams, steroid creams, antibiotic tablets and nothing made any difference. Went on holiday to Majorca (first time abroad) and cleared up in 3 days…….

Sun is magic. I don't think I could cope on a plane with her yet though. Too many paddy fits 😂

It looks like eczema exacerbated by dribble. For severe eczema the oiler the cream the better, often. So use the oiliest you can manage, try hydromol and definitely use vaseline as a barrier. So your eczema cream first let is sink in and the vaseline. It will take time, try not to change creams and routine of what you're doing too frequently so as to give cream a chance to work.

Estekins · 11/04/2025 21:26

Just an update for anyone who finds this thread. We stripped back all the creams we was trying and just applied hydromol Ointment. It's bit like vaseline texture but so far iv been smothering her every few hours and boy is she looking better. Not got rid of all the redness but this is day 2. So far it seems to be working and this cream isn't making her red.
Thank you for all the recommendations I'm going to ask next time I'm in boots to see if I can get a sample of the Elizabeth arden miracle cream.

Brilliant! Stick with the hydromol, I wouldn't try the Elizabeth Arden. You've found what seems to be working, persevere with it. Changing creams will often cause a flare up.

Fucidin cream worked for us.
