To feel like my manager is setting me up to fail?

I’m in a fixed-term role and I’ve been here a few months now. From day one, I haven’t been given any proper induction or support - I’ve had to piece everything together myself. When I’ve asked for help, my manager either ignores me, vaguely tells me to “check the Hub,” or passes me off to other colleagues.

She frequently cancels our one-to-ones at the last minute (or doesn’t show up at all), barely responds to emails, and yet still expects me to deliver complex work on tight deadlines with zero guidance.

Now that my probation period is coming up, she’s suddenly asking questions about my progress and knowledge - the same areas I’ve asked for support in but been fobbed off. It feels like she’s setting up a paper trail to say “Well I asked,” without acknowledging that she’s offered no help up until this point.

She presents herself as approachable and supportive but in reality, she’s disorganised and reactive, and I’m the one left holding the bag. AIBU to feel like this is a setup and that I’m being positioned to fail?

Have you got a record / paper trail of asking her for help

Not sure if she is setting you up, sounds like she is just a very poor manager and possibly very lazy who is now trying to cover her tracks,

I would be rethinking the position If you are going to be working with her in the future
